I'm actually thinking they should whittle the field down to 32 teams, and even then there will be blowouts in the first round.

I agree with you that UT will play UConn to get to the finals. Who is the only team that has a chance to beat UConn in getting to the Final 4?

Why do automatic bids matter? A reward for winning your conference championship tourney, thus making winning significant.

I'll go a bit further and say, it at least keeps the politics out of some of the selection process. Had Bama won the men's SECCG they'd have been in over UGA and/or UT, two teams they'd beaten. They didn't. Instead, UAB and Alabama St. are in and I don't see anybody talking about auto bids in the men's tourney. The fact that 15 teams in the men's tourney have lost more than 12 games compared to 4 in the women's might suggest one is more watered down than the other. JMO.

No, but there should be 32 Hockey teams rather than 64 women's basketball teams, if competition is the selling point

If you like hockey you might feel that way. I don't know anything about hockey, do any teams in the SEC play hockey other than at the club level? We should if we don't, it would really bum out the big 10/ East to whoop them with our uneducated, over signed classes. Anyway, not sure I get where you're coming from. Some people don't like women's sports. I don't watch men's bowling, or hockey, or nascar... #16 vs. #1 is what it is, whatever the tourney.

Georgetown, DePaul, or Duke, but I am guessing nobody, till the Vols, or Baylor play them. FTR, I don't think "uconn" will win it this year, JMO though.
