Worked as a defensive back (Safety) and did enough to earn a UT offer today.

"It seemed like a good place for me as a DB," he said. "It seemed real calm and chill place but also has a lot of excitement in the program. They are one of the top three. They are at the very top. I'd have to work for some early playing time but the way I was playing there, I think I could get it."

Conflicting stories between Rivals and GVX. Wouldn't be the 4,988th time GVX got it wrong though.

"Desmond Brown says he want to play for Vols"

proofreading skills no longer exist. it's unbelievable how many simple errors there are in Scout/Rivlas/GVX articles.

they have a photo on GVX where Chase Rettig is referred to as Chase "Redding."

IMO the only reason he didn't commit on the spot is that he's waiting on a Bama offer. I'd be worried if they get involved. Otherwise we are the clear favorite.

He was outstanding yesterday. His offer from Tennessee was well earned and he has a nice frame for a DB. He's a legit 6'0+ and at or very near 200 lbs.

Brown is really a safety by position but he showed the athleticism to line up at cornerback and run with wide receivers. A thick, muscular safety with a lot of athletic versatility, Brown had one of the best safety bodies at the event and is one of the real under-valued defenders in the entire southeast.

"Coach Monte Kiffin came up to me after seeing me guard some people," Brown said. "He told me I was the person that he wanted. He told me to come talk to him when the camp was over."

"I went to their office at the indoor practice facility. I went and talked to coach Lane Kiffin. He told me I had a great camp and looked really good.

"He said coach Monte Kiffin really liked me. He said I would be a perfect fit. Coach Monte Kiffin said I could become the next Eric Berry. I am not going to run from that."

Per Scout... I don't think there is any higher praise than being called as possibly the "next Eric Berry" and being told "your the one I want" by Monte...

WOW, talking about stroking a kids ego. That is some high praise. If Monte meant half of what he said, then this kid must be awesome.

I'm pretty sure he will be a Vol. He is going to a camp at Bama later this month. I would expect him to commit to the Vols shortly after...

Brown is a good-looking athlete who projects as a safety in college but showed off his man-to-man coverage skills in the one-on-ones and seven-on-seven. He's physical off the line of scrimmage, gets receivers off their route and has the speed to run with most and the size to deal with all. He was the most physically gifted defensive back at the camp.

“At the Tennessee camp I worked at cornerback even though I am a safety and that really helped me out. I think that is why I got an offer. Coach Monte (defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin) came over and talked to me and said he had never seen a safety move as fast as I did.”

Should we be worried since he attended the Auburn camp? What about Bama? He is waiting on something. Must be an offer from Bama.

per clemson rivals page -

"I was going to commit to Tennessee, but one of my friends was telling me about Clemson so I decided to visit," the 2010 recruit noted. "I love me some (UT defensive coordinator) Monte Kiffin. He showed me a lot of love when I went there for camp and said he'd used me in an Eric Berry-type role, which would be an honor.

"Now it's a toss-up between those two schools. It's so close. I'm going to have to sleep on it. I loved Clemson."

hmm.... Monte Kiffin/Ed Orgeron or Kevin Steele/Dan Brooks

sounds like a easy decision to me

Brooks and Steele are goth great recruiters. Brooks was probably the best assistant on staff as far as recruiting when he was here.
