I had a 27 ACT and got put on UT's wait list. Didn't bother me though cause I mostly applied as a backup plan. Tough standards though.

Yeah but they superscore the ACT and favor it over the SAT

Huh, Private highly ranked schools prefer SAT and it is not close. SAT judges in theory IQ more than ACT. ACT is a great teller of how well you learned the material in school. However, so many places offer tutoring now that the SAT is not the IQ judge it used to be.

I'm just talking about what UT does. They take the best scores in each section from every time someone takes the ACT and put them together. Tennessee system schools generally favor the ACT.

I should have clarified.:hi:

Yeah, most public schools do prefer ACT. It shows they are good students and can learn material. However, when schools get more competitive they start using SAT more. UGA has done this of recent. The hope scholarship will bring this on at UT as well. It just makes things more competitive. Sad but true. One day UT campus will be drastically different then it has been because of the changing demographics of its students. Well some may like the change.

And I am sorry if I sound like an *ss, I used to tutor this stuff and no more then I want to about it.

Uh....are you talking about the University of Tennessee??? My freshman year was 2000....and I had PLENTY of friends get into UT with as low as 18-19's on the ACT. They must have REALLY raised the academic standards.

They have. The hope scholarship does this whenever it is put in place in a state.

I just cant see a 27 not being good enough to get you admittance.....I know people who scored in the mid-20's who got partial academic scholarships. "Requiring" a 27 or above is Vandy and Duke territory.
