There has been considerable and consistent turnover in the SEC since '93. Who do you think the 10 best SEC coaches in that time frame are and what is TCHFCATUTK's record against them?

Hmmm... I think he's 1-4 against Richt, 1-2 against Saban, 0-3 against Tubberville. The record against Spurrier is awful. He is, however, undefeated against Ed Orgeron.

Those are probably my top 4 coaches (not Orgeron).

You have four of them. Giving Fulmer credit for the '92 win over Florida, I have him at 3-8 against Spurrier.

I think Gene Stallings has to be on the list. TCHFCATUTK's record against Stallings was 2-1-1.

Stallings
Franchione
Shula
Bowden
Donnan
Holtz

No time to look up records.

Does anyone have a list of all the SEC coaches since the beginning of the CPF regime? That could help alot.

I'll take Jackie Sherrill over all of those guys except Stallings.

I'm gonna throw a name out there that will have you guys belly laughing, but what he did in '02 with the horrid team, he could use a mention. Guy Morris. :biggrin2:

EDIT: Gotta get the year right...

After this year we might have to put Guy Morris on the list as well. I would not take Sherill over Bowden, Holtz or Stallings.

Jackie Sherrill is to Buster Brown Bowden as Mick Jagger is to Scott Stapp.

Guy no longer coaches in the SEC. He went to Baylor last year.

Guy Morris is a very good football coach. I wouldn't put him on the list for the simple fact that he wasn't really around long enough. He's doing an amazing job at Baylor. He has them on the verge of being bowl eligible, an amazing accomplishment when you consider how bad things were when he arrived in Waco.

Spurrier
Richt
Fulmer
Saban
Stallings
Shula
Tubberville
Nutt
Donnan
Jackie Sherrill

Obviously, I wouldn't have TCHFCATUTK on the list, because he doesn't compete against himself. I'm in general agreement with this list, with the notable exception of Shula. I see absolutely nothing to indicate he is anything more than an average coach.

I'd replace Shua with Fran, except his tenure was shortened by leaving for a BigXII team just like Morris.

Stallings (NC)
Spurrier (NC)
Saban (NC)
Tuberville (Undefeated Season)
Richt (Great record vs CPF)

The rest were ok but not the don't consistently beat Fulmer or win the SEC.

Besides, he would have to at least slide in there above Tuberville. As much as many people want to deny it, CPF has a NC.

I wasn't really looking to rank TCHFCATUTK, my intention is to get a gauge on how he has fared against the good coaches. Beating Ray Goff and Gerry Dinardo is no real accomplishment. I'm also not looking to bash TCHFCATUTK, because his record against some of the coaches on my list is quite good.

During the entire 14 years....all has to be considered...while his record against Saban and Richt aren't good, his tenure allows him certain advantages, like he got to coach the bulk of his UGA games against Jim Donnan and Ray Goff....so thru the bulk of his career, it could be argued that the only one really better than him was spurrier....the winner of the UF/UT game in it's hay day won the Conf. just about each time...(97 i think is the only time we lost to UF and still won it....UF won the conf. most every time, except in 92 against Bama i think, someone would have to look all that up)
1. Spurrier...no doubt there.
2. Fulmer (despite last couple of years, hard to argue with his overall record against UGA, Bama and UF--2 sec titles, 4 sec champ game appearances and a NT don't hurt either)
3. Saban (probably could have rivaled Spurrier had he stuck around, that's the only reason he's not higher on the list imo.)
4. Richt (has started off better than i think any other coach on this list...definitely the coach of hte SEC today, and if keeps going at the same pace could replace Spurrier)
5. Gene Stallings(too bad for bama fans that he came and went so fast.)
6. Tubberville (probably still underrated even on this list, but no NC and only 1 SEC title)

now the list is asked as of today would read:
1. Richt
2. Tubberville
3. Spurrier
4. Meyer
5. Fulmer
6. Shula
7. Miles

 Fair enough.

Fulmer beat Tuberville in '99.
