Tony Jefferson - Football Recruiting

"I'm also being heavily recruited by Southern Cal, Purdue, Michigan, Utah, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State and many others," he said. "Stanford will always be under consideration as well, I really like the coaches and what they are doing there, but I need to make sure to keep my options open."

This kid could be a LB, RB, S, CB, WR or whatever in college. Has a monster highlight tape and is a big hitter. Perfect guy for Monte's system, really a LB/DB guy. Considering Arizona, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon State, USC, Stanford, Tennessee, and UCLA (offered by ALL) per rivals. Considers Stanford, USC and Florida his favorites. #42 in the Rivals 100.

“I had a Top 5 recently, but the list was so unstable. It just kept changing,” Jefferson said. “But here is my new list of top schools: Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and USC. Right now, I could see myself at all of these schools. I may choose to add more to the list, but this is a good one.”

As a Gator, I'd love to have him but I'm afraid Pete Carroll is too tough to beat for a California kid.

"I'm going to Michigan on the 21st and then Florida on the 28th," said Jefferson. "And I'm setting up either Miami or Tennessee."

Per Scout... He's visiting Okla this weekend. Looks like the Vols and Gators are both trying to get in on him...

I think he will be a Gator when it is all said and done. He has been trying to get a visit for a few weeks now and finally the staff let him take one and rumors are that if he likes his visit he will commit. I didn't think we would take it until recently.

I hope we get a visit from this guy. I'd like to see a video of him. He sounds like a future defensive terror. From Rivals:

Most Impressive: Has tremendous football speed and may be the second-best form tackler in this class behind only Jeff Luc. Also Jefferson has the dimension of possessing ball skills, which makes him doubly dangerous as a threat to turn the tides of a game on one play.
Conclusion: Jefferson is a very versatile athlete that should play a major role as a special teams' demon. Has the potential to play either safety or outside linebacker and a lot of that will be determined by the depth chart and his ability to find which position he will excel at in college.

The fact that UF is finally letting him visit is very telling about where they think they stand with Luc, IMO.

FWIW, the Gator fans who are trying to say that their staff cooled on Luc are full of it.

fyp. Jefferson is most likely going to be a Safety...

This is more about Dorsey and Dowling and has nothing to do with Matt. It's been some "talk" that Urban is really trying to sell Jefferson on Matt and that if Dorsey takes this visit then UF will go HARD after Jefferson. Which IMO gives UF a better defensive talent. Jefferson is a florida kid that moved to LA and his parents want to move back and thats why he's really looking hard at UF

Oklahoma fans think this kid is locked up. Supposedly telling people he's going to OU and he's the next Roy Williams except he can cover.
