The last of his maximum five trips apparently will come down to Tennessee and Washington.

"They really like me," James said of the Vols, who sent Cregg to film one of Corona's spring practices earlier this year. "I get the most letters from Tennessee. They send me a lot of hand-written letters. They're pretty much saying the same thing, but it shows that they're really, really interested in me."

Canceled his Florida visit due to the commit of Mack Brown.

"Right now, I have three trips lined up. Notre Dame (Oct. 17), Arizona (Nov. 7) and UCLA (Nov. 21). I'm also talking with Washington and I'm going to try and get a visit set up with them later this week. For my last visit, I'm looking at a number of schools including Cal and Tennessee."

"I was torn for my fifth trip between Washington and Tennessee, but was leaning towards Washington," said James. "Then the news from Florida made the decision easy for me.

"Now I can't wait to see the facilities and see Washington in a big time game. Coach Martin told me they are going to surprise some people when they play LSU and I'm excited to see it."

James won't be alone on the trip because his talented teammate Demetrius Wright will be accompanying him.

"Demetrius and I have talked about Washington. When I got the news from Florida I let him know we would be tripping together for the LSU game."

James has been impressed with the job Steve Sarkisian and his staff are doing with recruiting and now he's ready to see the programs progress up close.

"Coach Sarkisian is doing a great job of recruiting at Washington. He pulled down Nick Montana so he must be doing something right to land a quarterback like that."

Aside from the coaches, a chance to play early jumps out at James when evaluating Washington. After the departure of David Freeman and Brandon Johnson from the program, the Huskies are left with only four healthy scholarship backs next season.

"One of the things I look for at any school is the chance to compete for a starting spot right away," said James. "The Washington coaches have always told me I would have a great chance of coming in and playing. Coach Martin told me they really want to get both a speed and power back in this class. They already got power with [Melvin] Davis, now they just need speed."

With four visits set, the talented running back honing in on his fifth trip, but there is a good battle going on between two schools for his final allotted official visit.

"I'm still trying to decide between California and Tennessee," James said. "I'm not going decide between the two until the season starts, but I'm not sure what is going to determine what school I choose for my final visit. I'm kind of going back and forth between Cal and Tennessee."
