Jordon James - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN

There might not be a back in this class with quicker feet and more suddenness through the hole than James. We feel if he played an entire junior season he would be more heavily recruited. Needs to pack on some bulk and lower-body strength but has the frame and body composition to fill out well once he enters a fulltime college weight training program. Has a very tight waist and is a quick-twitched athlete making him very slippery to wrap up. Hits the hole at full speed and displays very good vision and lateral quicks picking and sliding through the small creases without gearing down much. Displays good burst and the ability to bounce outside and beat defenders to the corner. Very light on his feet and almost glides through the hole. Very difficult to get a clean shot on, particularly in space. Sharp, decisive cutter when he breaks free. Is very elusive with his ability to freeze defenders and change direction on dime in the openfield. Shows good acceleration and top-end speed splitting the high-point safeties and separating in the second level. Our main concern at this time is his lack of power as a runner and overall lower-body strength. Doesn't consistently break initial contact and can get tripped up on arm tackles. His ability to absorb the big hit at the next level and retain his balance and durability is perhaps our biggest concern. That said, James is an electric runner with big play ability. Projects more as a change of pace runner to start of his career but that could change with added size, strength and improved yards after contact. Great under the radar back.

We have offered per Rivals.

1) why do you need to use 3 screen names in 24hrs?

2) why did put up a link through the Stanford site instead of through the Vols' portion?

Are either of those relevant to whether we get this guy or not?

are 99.3% of your posts relevant to whether or not we get anyone? I believe I have the answer for you, Scooter---

and FWIW his Scout profile lists everyone as "medium" and Tennessee as "low" which seems to suggest he told the Scout.com staffers he wasn't very interested in journeying from California to Tennessee.

even when trying try to ignore you and not give you grief you still find superfluous ways to be vexing.

that's debatable

I apologize for creating a thread on a recruit who on two recruiting sites is listed as interested.

This is off-topic anyway.

However many it took to show the MODs I am not a distraction which is what you are making me out to be this entire thread. Just talk about Jordon James.

regarding James---

game-by-game breakdown.

http://www.maxpreps.com/california/...2-41a3-ad74-8f39dfcdb95e&urpath=,local,player

he broke his right arm during a game last season and was forced to sit out just after breaking the 1,100-yds mark on the ground.

Football report card has Keith Price, Anthony Barr among leaders - Los Angeles Times

How many screen names does this guy have?

about as many as Alabama has mythical national championships. he's used at least 4 since April started.

Jordon James is primed for a big year in 2009.
James' (Corona, Calif.) numbers last fall are quite remarkable when you look at them on paper. In just four and half games as a junior, this 2010 Under Armour All-American rushed for more 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns against very good competition. James was a top rusher in the state prior to breaking his arm. It's almost certain that he would be regarded by most as one of the elite runners in the country had he played an entire season.

From our standpoint, he still is, and his performance Saturday helped back our evaluation. James ran a blazing 4.42 40-yard dash and scored a 4.18 shuttle time, displaying outstanding lateral quicks. What may have impressed us more was his physical stature, power and explosiveness. Our evaluation in February stated the then-180-pound back needed to add size and strength to be a college load-back. Well folks, it looks like he is well on his way. James checked in at a solid 187 pounds and showed a big increase in upper and lower-body thickness. He has a wide lower base to assist his balance and power through the hole and when needing to break initial contact. His excellent broad jump of 9 feet, 11 inches and vertical jump of 37 inches demonstrates the increased explosiveness and burst he has gained this offseason. James' improved upper-body bulk was also very apparent in person. On the bench, he didn't disappoint with his 21 reps of 185 pounds.

A combine is not always a great place for a back to showcase his in-line running skills. Still, what James displayed from a physical testing standpoint and through various drills backed our early projection that this guy will be able to tote the rock as a high-carry back at the next level. He is not just a speed guy.

We are not the only ones taking notice, the offers are starting to roll in for this humble back (check out Overheard in L.A. on Monday) but don't expect a letdown next fall. This young man still feels like he has something to prove.

"Yes, I still feel like I am a little underrated, but I am hoping for big senior season," James said. "My hand is 100 percent, and I've been working on my speed running track."

The comparison he is hearing the most?

"A lot of coaches say I remind them of [Chargers running back] Darren Sproles and that I have some of the quickest feet in this class."

With improved size, speed and explosiveness from a year ago, we expect James will convince the rest of the country that he should be mentioned in the same breath as the other premier backs in this 2010 class.

Impressed at a recent Under Armor Combine. There was more praise at the top of the article but some reason it isn't showing up.

"I want to visit a lot of schools before I make my decision, but I think I have a top eight," James said. "They are Florida, UCLA, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Stanford, Arizona, Washington and Tennessee."

"They are all great programs and some of them are among the best academic schools in the nation," James said. "I starting to my research right now."

"We are in spring practice right now and we have had a lot of coaches come by the school," James said. "Washington, Oregon, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Arizona and UCLA were all by recently."

"(UCLA offensive coordinator) Norm Chow actually came by our practice last Friday," James said. UCLA is on me real hard. Arizona, Florida, Notre Dame, Cal and Tennessee are also recruiting me pretty hard."

ESPNU 150 Watch List ball-carrier Jordon James has (Corona, Calif.) set up four of his official visits and is still keeping things open for that 5th and final visit, ESPN's Greg Biggins reports.

James said he'll visit Florida (Sept. 19), Notre Dame (Oct. 17), Arizona (Nov. 7) and UCLA (Nov. 21).

"That 5th trip could be a few schools but I haven't decided yet," James said. "I like Washington, Tennessee and a few others but I do want to take all five visits if I can."

James rushed for 1,135 yards and scored 11 touchdowns last fall despite playing in only five games due to injury.

The 5-foot-10, 188-pounder posted an electronically-timed 4.4 40-yard dash, 4.18 20-yard shuttle, 7.34 three-cone drill, 38.9-inch vertical and 10'11" broad jump during stops at the Long Beach Nike Combine and Los Angeles Under Armour Combine this spring.

September 19th? Hmm... I haven't heard of anything going on in Florida on that day...

Heck with this coaching staff I wouldn't be suprised if all of the Gators commitments all decide to decommit and come to Tennessee!

We don't necessarily have to win this game. With Ohio the next week, we could be 3-1. I'm hoping for a good showing and keeping it close. If we can do that it will mean the program is turning around and headed on the right track. If we can sign 2, 5* and 2-3, 4* at the end of the signing period, we should be fine with a complete recruiting season. The recruits are talking, and those that have been to camp or seen the campus and the new staff are letting others know. (i.e. the Jeff Luc rumored visit, possible Henderson visit, Ambles and Reed to the 1 day camp)etc. We'll be fine.

With four visits set, the talented running back honing in on his fifth trip, but there is a good battle going on between two schools for his final allotted official visit.

"I'm still trying to decide between California and Tennessee," James said. "I'm not going decide between the two until the season starts, but I'm not sure what is going to determine what school I choose for my final visit. I'm kind of going back and forth between Cal and Tennessee."
