Just got an offer. Another one of those Gran connections.

I'm starting to see why this guy was so wanted by Kiffin and crew. He has basically lived in South Florida for the last couple of weeks.

No offer yet. DB coach wants to see him Thursday during STA's scrimmage. Payne came over from Dillard HS and Gran and Auburn used to own that school.

Btw a lot of assistants have lived here the past 3 weeks, it's pretty hectic down here this time of year.

Not saying I don't believe you Luke, but what do you make of this....

Cornerback Keion Payne discussed his current offers list with ESPN affiliate InsideMDSports.com.

"Miami and Tennessee just offered. Oklahoma State, Maryland, Ole Miss, Rutgers, South Carolina, Oregon, Wake Forest are my other offers," Payne said. Florida State has also verbally offered.

"I could end up anywhere. [Location] really doesn't matter," he added. "Early playing time and coaching bond [are the top criteria]. I don't really look at facilities because everyone has excellent facilities."

Payne recorded 33 tackles, four interceptions and 15 pass breakups last fall.

Additionally, he posted a 4.55 40-yard dash, 4.34 20-yard shuttle, 7.3 three-cone drill and 29.5-inch vertical at the Miami Under Armour Combine.

The offer is coming. This is a text from Payne earlier tonight about a UT offer.

"Not yet Coach Gran saw me practice and he really likes me and said he wants the DB coach to see me Thursday and will probably offer the same day."

The kid will probably blow up Thursday, Miami, UT and who knows who else will most likely offer that day.

Got good speed, has a good frame. A little light but our S anc C guys will fix that. Plus he has a few years of growing time to get better.

Thanks for the clarification Luke. I will leave him on there for the time being, but if nothing is in stone by next week let me know please. I am trying to keep this thing as accurate as possible. Also, do you know anything about Ed Sullivan?? He's from Boca Raton and says he has an offer from us. Anything true with that??

Sullivan's offer from UT is the hot question among college coaches this spring. No one seems to know, but for his sake I hope it's true because some smaller schools haven't wasted their time with him thinking "We can't compete with an SEC team."

Personally if he really has a UT offer he needs to jump all over it and commit.

Based on where I believe he is on UT's QB Board, I would say, if this is all true mind you, that a commit from him wouldn't be allowed to go public until UT has exhausted many avenues before they let it be known. That's my opinion though.

As far as official visits this fall, Payne has a few schools in mind already.

“Tennessee, I know they are getting one for sure. Miami will get on for sure. If Ohio State comes through with an offer, they will get one. You know I don’t know who else though.”

We are in the thick of it with all of these STA kids. We basically have a recruiter there in Palardy. Pulling another one or more of em would be awesome.

I really like their QB, Im looking to see big things this year from him along with a UT offer.

Another coaching staff that has impressed Payne is Tennessee. “I really like the new coaches,” he said. “I talk with them a lot and really admire them. They’ve had great success in the past and I think they’ll be winning again soon.

“They develop winners and know what it takes to get to the next level,” Payne said. “They are go-getters and do whatever they can to get the job done.”

Per Scout...
