Pro-style quarterback
Oviedo (FL) Oviedo

Ht: 6-foot-4
Wt: 230 lbs
Class: 2010 (High School)

Talented quarterback prospect who threw for 2,215 yards, 21 touchdowns, and nine picks as a junior. He also added 250 yards and two scores on the ground. FSWA All-State 6A Third Team QB, All SAC First Team QB, Orlando Sentinel All Seminole County.

Only offer is from UCF, but hearing from Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Miami, and Florida State.

He is attending practice today.

Has good size, from the short highlight clip looks like he has a good arm.

Would be a good number 2 guy, IMO.

Rivals has a highlight video of him. Good size and can put the long ball on target. Also appears to be able to through well on the run. If Florida and Miami are after him he must have some talent. We certain need a quarterback!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oviedo junior Blake Bortles, the Sentinel's All-Seminole County quarterback in 2008, has received an official scholarship offer from UCF according to Lions coach Wes Allen.

Bortles, who was listed at 6-3, 200 pounds in the 2008 season, broke the Seminole Athletic Conference single-season passing record with 2,472 yards. He completed 197 o 337 attempts, with 23 TDs and 11 interceptions for a 3-7 team.

"They just want to get me on campus and to a camp before they make a final decision if they want to offer me. A bunch of schools have said that. UCF, FAU, Tennessee, Florida State, Rutgers, Western Michigan and Western Kentucky are the most serious."

As for favorites, Bortles said Tennessee would be at the top. He's looking forward to visiting Knoxville again this summer after taking an unofficial visit there in March.

"I've always liked Tennessee," Bortles said. "That's where my mom is from so I like them. I went up there in March for a little visit. I watched practice and got a tour. I went up for a Phillip Fulmer camp last summer, but I figured since they got rid of those guys I needed to get up there again. Coach (David) Reaves is their quarterbacks coach and I've talked to him on the phone a couple times. He was at school the other day and I think he's coming to a practice this week too. I was able to meet everybody, Coach (Lane) Kiffin, all of them."

I like his size. Don't really know much about anything else, but his arm strength seems to be in question.

I think this class is loaded with guys like this that Tennessee can get just by offering. The problem is that it is hit or miss - diamond in the rough type of thing.

There aren't enough elite QB's in this class or guaranteed starters, so UT is going to its shots.
