If he bombs out at QB, he's got good enough measureables to play WR or Safety so I'd be alright with it.

I agree....I hope we can get Christian Green who is also a very good QB who is projected as a WR (6'2" 4.46).
It would be very, very dangerous to have a few WR's that can really throw the pill. I was just watching footage of a QB prospect, and saw them run a reverse...as the first kid chucked it to his teammate, I thought "it would be a hell of a play if that kid immediately took a step back, set his feet and let 'er rip downfield. Having a few WR's that were former QB's allows you to do that...and I think it hurts UF's defense the worst, since they try to fly to the ball more than play assignment football.
You know on reverses that everyone and their grandmother is going to come up in support of the run.
Sticking it to UF a time or two on such a play (similar to what we did against UGA in 07) will make them more tentative, and HAVE to keep their safeties back.
Having a kid like this, Christian Green, and perhaps Cam Newton (as WR if he can't break the depth chart at QB), would open the playbook up for Kiffin big time.

40 times are complete and utter bullsh!t. Well I take that back, If he ran a 5.6 there'd be a problem but when you're on the goal line and you've got a guy who's 6'2, can jump, and has hands, does it really matter if he's on a 5'8 corner if he runs a 4.7?

Also, didn't we sign a dude last class who was big and ran in the 4.6/4.7 range? James Green?

I have have been sending his film to college coaches ever since he finished up his sophmre season.

To watch Tim Smith in action visit:

http://mauricesmith11.webs.com/apps/videos/

and watch this youtube highlight I put together of some of his best plays from soph and junior seasons; I gurantee the first play of this highlight will blow your mind:

YouTube - QB Tim Smith Fort Pierce Central Highlights with Music

Game speed kills: He plays fast versus some guys who run good 40 times but dont play fast. You be the judge. Right now he is a great athlete who needs to work on his mechanics as QB.
6'1 185 I project him to be 6'2 190 when he graduates early in Dec.
Hand time: 4.49 fastest, slowest 4.56 Coach Jacobs
Laser time: 4.7 Nike Combine Miami

After watching the tapes, it looks like we have offered him as a ATH. Thank you Maurice. Post more often about your boys down there in Florida.

He either runs faster in game situation or many of those db and safeties were very slow.

I bet he throws a mean leg kick if he's affiliated with Mo Smith. Perhaps we have found a new enforcer her on VN.

He sure seems to have good game speed in his highlights. Thanks for the links.

No, what I meant was guys who great 40 times dont always play as fast as thier 40 time indicates. On the other hand guys who run mediocre 40 times play alot faster than their 40 time indicates.

1. With you both being Smith's, are you related some way?
2. What does he want to play? Everyone he questions whether he's being recruited as a QB or something else, but lets get down to it. Is he wanting to be a QB, or is he wanting to do whatever it'll take to get a high D1 offer?
