"He was very excited," Ambles said. "He jumped up out of his chair when I told him that I was coming. The whole staff is excited. I have talked to coach Thompson, coach Wilson, coach Orgeron and coach Kiffin a lot. They were all happy when I told them today."
"Tennessee was one of the schools that showed me love from the start to the finish and I wanted to go someplace where they really wanted me," Ambles said. "I didn't want to be just another guy, I wanted to be one of the top guys. The offense is great, it's the USC offense now here on the east coast and coach Kiffin and the coaches have been great to me"
We're not on his list according to rivals. He has every reason to stay at Penn Sate. He is from pennsylvania so he is probably a fan. It's closer to home. Clark is in his final season I believe. Joe Paterno is a proven coach. I think Bray is the teams best shot being a soft verbal. Not to mention UT has more going for themselves than SDST. We are trailing Penn St. at the moment.
he has every reason to leave, they have a true freshman newsome, who looked lights out at the blue white game.he will be better than clark, and they just got another good qb recruit in boldin. so i think he has every reason to leave penn state, especially if he wants playing time...but then again, thats what i thought about scroggins.
Aah. I didn't follow any of their incoming recruits. I just knew Clark was leaving so I figured Jones was in the running for playing time after a season or two.
per ESPNHighly-touted Markeith Ambles (McDonough, Ga./Henry County) has committed to sign with Tennessee's Class of 2010, ESPN's Tom Luginbill reports.
ESPN's Billy Tucker added, "Ambles is a major get for Tennessee as Kiffin has landed another future game-changer on offense to team up with ESPN's No. 2 running back from 2009, Bryce Brown (Wichita, Kan./East). After closing strong on the trail last year, the Vols' 2010 class was comprised of some quality, particularly on the defensive line, but were missing an upper-tier prospect, until now."
"Having just watched Ambles work out at Florida's Friday Night Lights camp, its hard not be impressed with the physical tools and skill-set he brings to the table as a receiver. His fluidity and athleticism for a taller wideout may be unparalleled in this year's talented receiver class; could make an immediate impact in Knoxville as a redzone player with his jump-ball skills. Aside from his great pass-catching skills, Ambles has plenty of speed to threaten a defense vertically as a route runner and after the catch with ball in his hands. This kid is savvy as well in terms of knowing the position which should only assist his chances of making an immediate impact for Tennessee."
As a junior, he caught 53 passes for 993 yards (18.7 average) and 13 touchdowns.
After Ambles and the UF coaches met they decided to go in different directions. Not sure why because I think Ambles is a good player. Guess you have to trust your coaches.
