#10 in AP Poll

I think this top 12 is actually the best 12 in the nation. The rankings also covers the group of 4 conference champs, the highest non group of 4 team, and 5 SEC teams. They even threw in an independent at large. CFP committee should pay attention to the AP

The Big 12 is not represented in the top 12.

Dammit you're right. Guess we're Army, USC, Miami, Jr, OSU, CU, Purdue, Fla, & Texas fans for the next 2 weeks
We'd be just outside the playoffs if this were to be the final rankings.

Top 4 conference champs get seeds 1 to 4: Oregon (B10), Texas (SEC), Miami (ACC), and Boise St (MtnnW).
Fifth-best conference champ gets a guaranteed spot: that's #14 BYU (B12) into the 12 seed position.

Then fill in the 5 through 11 seeds with the remaining teams in order: 5 Ohio St, 6 Penn St, 7 Indiana,, 8 Notre Dame, 9 Bama, 10 UGa, and 11 Ole Miss.

Then we're just outside in the #13 spot.

Of course, it will NOT stay this way; lots more movement coming.

But for now, we can only win out and hope higher-ranked teams lose.

Go Vols!

But you already put #14 BYU into the 12-seed position...

Edited to add: As far as the overall sentiment that we're in decent shape with respect to the playoffs: We need just a little bit of chaos to help us out.

Your math’s not adding up.

You’re saying 4 conference champs:
-Oregon, Texas, Miami, and Boise State

And 1 more (the 5th) conference champion:
- Big 12 Champion BYU

But then you list 8 teams (#5, #6, #7, #8, #9, #10, #11, #12)
- Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana, Notre Dame, Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, and TN

That’s 13 teams altogether (4+1+8)

TN will be the first team out if using the AP rankings. (I know it’s not based on the rankings but #10 in the AP makes them the first team out when the formula is applied).

Need for Florida to beat Ole Miss in Gainesville next week and we win out. That should put us in.
