Scout.com: Justin McCay Profile

Probably outside of someone like Robert Woods, the top athlete/WR in 2010. Could most definetely be the big WR Kiffin loves. 6'4 and runs a 4.5 forty. Could also be a stud LB. Scout has him as the top WR in 2010 ESPN gave him a good review and he sounds like Dwayne Jarrett, who was also listed as an athlete by rivals. If we get Bryce Brown, expect a lot of Kansas guys like Blake Bell and Justin McCay to start taking a long look at UT. Anybody know if he's been offered??

New video up of McCay. This dude has a big frame and doesn't appear to be finished growing. Isn't a very good route runner from what I've seen of his video, but is real physical and already freakishly strong. I can't decide whether he's a LB or a WR. Looking at him, he looks like a linebacker, but he has all the attributes you'd want in a big, physical wide receiver. I think he can put on about 20 more pounds of muscle easily -- maybe more. He could even grow into a TE. He's being recruited as a basketball player too FWIW. Being listed as 6'4" 200lbs on most sites. 4.5 40. Holds a UT offer. He lives about 2 hours from Bryce Brown.

Urban Meyer appears up to his old tricks with this one.

Bishop Miege’s linebackers coach Randy Withers said, “He plays linebacker. In fact one Florida coach called, the special teams coach I think, and said they wanted him at LB. Then Urban Meyer called back and said no that was wrong they want him at WR. He’s a great LB, very disruptive but anyone can tell he’s going to be a WR at the next level because of what he can do with the football under his arm.”

Kid has a ton of upside at either position. Its too bad he doesn't look like he's considering us.

good news:

"I have like 27-something offers now, but I can't tell you for sure the exact number," the 6-foot-3, 200-pound four-star said. "Some of the more recent ones were from Florida State, North Carolina, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Georgia ... and also Texas A&M."

is considering UT now per rivals.

That player is Shawnee Bishop Miege four-star wide receiver Justin McCay, the 6-foot-3, 197-pound pass-catcher is reciprocating Oklahoma interest by taking a trip to Norman this Thursday.
...
McCay may be far off from a decision but as he takes several trips around the country, including recent trips to Nebraska, Notre Dame, Kansas State, and another one upcoming to Missouri, he is starting to narrow his list of schools.

Also....

With three down and more to go, I asked McCay, what schools should we expect to stay on the short list. What schools stick out?

"Notre Dame, OU, Florida, Florida State, Missouri, Kansas State, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Kansas."

Tennessee - They get top prospects every year and I want to go to a school where I can compete. I'm probably going to go down there in June or July. I'll get a better feel for them then. But for now, I'm keeping them in my top.

Yeahhhhh my guy has us in his top 9..... It'd be interested to know what position they want him at. Could be the big WR in LK offense, or could be the speedy LB that Monte loves. And thanks to freak, keep it coming with the recruiting man, your really catching on. :)

Freak is our honorary recruiting mod of the week. :)

I would love to get this kid, many have him leaning toward OU. Lots of big name schools are drooling over him.

The kids says he likes UT and is coming to camp. Let's see if we can get a commitment out of him this summer

With this guy, you just ask HIM where he wants to play and be grateful to get him at either position. He can start and excel on offense or defense.

Five years from now, I see a thickly muscled 235 lb. linebacker who packs a serious wallop and is also a great speed rusher and good in coverage.

A real prize. May the best team win.

I cant argue with that. His 42 in vertical will look very go to coaches who need a WR. We are one of em, but another LB wouldnt hurt either.

If he can put on 30-40 lbs over the next couple of years he would be a killer DE with speed.

I thought I heard somewhere that we were definitely in it with prater, but im not sure. I know that Coach O is going to be the one recruiting the chicago area, so i wouldnt say we have no shot

Tony Basilio and Mike Ferrell both had articles about it in late March. They are purty much summarized on the 1st page of Prater's thread...

I really like this guy. This would be a great pick up for us. He is listed as an OLB on Scout. Any news on this guy ? I see he has Tennessee as an interest school.
