Jordan Allen - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN

Jordan Allen - Football Recruiting

Right off the bat you like the size Allen brings to the table. He is a big kid with good size and appears to have the frame to keep adding good bulk. He comes from a pretty good high school program and you see from his play that he is a pretty well coached kid and he is able to combine size and smarts to be productive. He has a good get-off and for his size plays with good pad level. What you really like about Allen is that he is active with his hands. He stays active with his weapons to separate and shed from blocks. It really stands out when he rushes the passer. He is not a kid that will run by blockers, but he attacks the shoulder and works his hands to club, rip, or over come over the top and swat the blockers hands down. Against the run he can take on blocks and tries to work to half-a-man so he can locate the ball and come off the block. Does a solid job of being able to squeeze and come across the ball and stay square. He runs well and does a good job of being able to re-direct and get down the line of scrimmage. He is a solid wrap-up tackler. Allen is a good prospect. Good player with good size. Has the tools to be a college defensive end and with his size and potential to get bigger could develop into a interior guy or least offer the versatility to slide down inside and take some quality reps there.

LSU and UT lead per ESPN

Allen once again reiterated that LSU is his leader, followed, in order, by Georgia, Nebraska and Alabama.

Additionally, we could see a decision in the near future from Allen, "I'm going to make my decision as soon as possible, but I want to make sure it's the right decision."

Other schools such as Tennessee, Texas A&M, Michigan and Minnesota are also pursuing the 6-foot-6 talent.

Allen names LSU as the team to beat for him at the moment, but it seems like the Tigers are mostly the leaders by default at the moment.

Tennessee is one of those schools hoping to get itself in the mix. Assistant coach Frank Wilson, who recruits portions of Louisiana, is schedule to be by practice this week to watch Allen in action.

As for Tennessee, Allen indicated that if the Vols showed they were serious about him, he'd be interested in giving them a look.

"From what I know about Tennessee and their tradition, I like them," Allen observed. "I know they have a new staff up there now and I don't know much about them, but I'd be interested in looking at them and learning more."
