Evaluation
Reid is a very talented and athletic safety. He is a tall, lean and physically impressive defensive back. Quicker than fast and demonstrates exceptional range. Reacts quickly on run support and attacks the football from proper angles while keeping good leverage on the football. Smooth and fluid in the openfield and can change directions without losing balance and control. Does a good job of using the sideline as the twelfth man. A reliable tackler in space but not the hardest hitting defensive back in terms of driving through the ball carrier; sometimes explodes through the hit but not consistently. Breaks well on the both the deep and intermediate routes; very fundamentally sound when breaking off the hash in two deep coverage. Equally impressive as the deep safety in three deep coverage. Athletic feet and hands and is confident when going up for the football; soft hands and good leaping ability. Seems intelligent and field smart when playing the safety position; understands route progression and anticipates receivers break out of the pattern. Height is a real benefit when going up for the jump ball. Reid is a very gifted player that can really excel at the free safety position. He is an excellent field general that plays with confidence and possesses the necessary skills to run the secondary both physically and mentally. Reid has a great motor and gives exceptional effort.
I would love to steal this guy just to piss those nasty Tigers off even more.
Committed in March. Has a UT offer.
