Tight end
Cambridge (MA) Buckingham Browne & Nichols
Ht: 6-foot-6
Wt: 230 lbs
Forty: 4.75 secs
Class: 2010 (High School)

In recent days Barker picked up offers from Florida and Tennessee. The two SEC schools joined schools such as Boston College, Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, Penn State, Rutgers, Stanford and Syracuse in offering Barker.
Barker does not know quite as much about the Volunteers just yet, but he was excited when news of the offer came in from Knoxville.

"My coach told me about (the Tennessee offer). He was in contact with one of their coaches and told me to call them, so I called coach (James) Cregg, the tight ends coach. He said they were offering me a scholarship.

"Coach (Lane) Kiffin is actually in Florida right now, so I'm gonna talk to him on Monday when he gets back"I don't know as much about Tennessee because I didn't visit, but when I was at Florida I saw a great football program, obviously, as well as great academics. I love the combination of football and academics they have."

Kid has all the measurables. Is probably going to end up in the top 250. Has a nice offer list... Looks like a very good prospect. Hope to see him in orange! (tennessee orange that is)

congratulations on a great decision

Stanford is a top school as well, I guess he didn't want to put too much time into football. That's ok though. His decision.

I'd personally go to Stanford and still get a top education and play BCS football. :)

Kid reminds me of John Carlson, a former ND tight end.

Both Stanford and Harvard are two of the best academic schools in the country, but he probably just wanted to stay closer to home.

I guess his parents have some money since the Ivy leagues doesn't give out atlethis money. Though in the end it is about the education and either choice will be fine.

Two things actually Harvard can offer some sort of tuition and financial aid grace especially for a kid who qualifies for the school and is a major player on the field, and Harvard is on such a different education level than Stanford it is not even a fair comparison

Last time I checked it was Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, and Stanford are the top five academic colleges in the country.

You obviously don't know much (if anything) about academic rankings if you don't think Harvard and Stanford are at least on the same level.
