1. Why do we keep hearing Scroggins rumors? Is it just wishful thinking? I am glad he is an EE because I am tired of the rumors and look forward to it being over in less than 2 months.

2. Are you surprised Matt Simms still does not have an offer? Any truth to the rumor that we are waiting to see what Bray looks like when he gets here in January?

3. Are we still totally out of it for George Uko? I have heard that it was just a rumor started by a guy with no sources. Are you sure he is still not interested?

4. If we missed on Luc and Christian Jones, are we still in it at all with Josh Shirley? Any chance CJ Mosley leaves the state of Alabama?

5. Predict our final OL class. 6 guys or 7 guys? Who are they and is there any chance any of them are from the group other than current commits + JuWuan James, Chaz Green, John Cullen, Shon Coleman, Damien Robinson, James Stone and Arie Kpuandjio?

6. Are we still going to take one more WR?

7. Is Ronald Powell going to USC? I would also love updates on any other guys you see not going to UF or Alabama who they are high on. While we rag on teams whose defenses dramatically underperform, UF certainly has looked worlds better than USC or Ohio State this year.

8. Speaking of hoped for bad news from UF two coaching questions. Do you think CUM might go to ND if Charlie Weis loses badly to Pitt and loses to Stanford and the buyout is paid? What about Charlie Strong, anyone have guesses on if he leaves and if so where he goes?

9. Anyone have news on Quarles? Was he hurt, and if so, did he cancel his UT trip and then go to the Clemson game? Is he (and his dad more importantly) coming to the Vanderbilt game?

1. Scroggins will not take a visit to UT. Take that as you will.
2. Wouldn't surprise me at all
3. The Uko rumour was indeed started by a guy with no sources. He is considered an insider by some people based on pretty much nothing. I don't trust the guy at all. This rumour has been proven false.
5. If I had to guess, I would say we land James, Green, and Cullen, but this is just my prognostication. I have no sources for this.
10. Not sure on Dyer. I think we look pretty strong with Dixon, but I don't think we have a shot at Reed. I would say he is probably Auburn bound.


As for the rest, who knows.

No. I would have been surprised if he got one, honestly. No, that's not true. The coaches know what they can expect from Bray. That doesn't even make any sense.

Ronald Powell is going to Florida. Sharrif Floyd is a silent to OSU.

Urban Meyer isn't going anywhere but the NFL. There isn't a better job in the nation than the one he has.

But look for Ladarius Owens to be back on campus and Nelson is scheduled to visit for Bama. But I think we land Luc. FL53 said he was a vol and that is good enough for me....

To early to tell. I think James and Green are likely both Vols right now. As far as the rest. I think we have a good shot at Cullen and watch out for Stone IMO....

6. Are we still going to take one more WR? Likely if Meline decides to go elsewhere and I think Kiffin still really wants Dunkley but that isn't likely. It really comes down to the best players on the board for the last few spots. If that player is a WR then I would say we take one.

7. Is Ronald Powell going to USC? I would also love updates on any other guys you see not going to UF or Alabama who they are high on. While we rag on teams whose defenses dramatically underperform, UF certainly has looked worlds better than USC or Ohio State this year. I think Powell ends up at FL... JMO. Fl and Bama are both loaded on the defensive side of the ball and Strong and Saban are both excellent coaches. As far as decommitments go. I think there is a decent chance Elam leaves and Dorsey for FL. Not sure on Bama. They usually don't lose many kids late....

I don't see it unless it is for the NFL and the Jags seem to be the only team that I would even consider hiring him. But I personally don't want to see him leave. I want to beat his ass. As far as Strong. I don't see a way he doesn't get a job especially if the Gators win another title.... Weis is as good as gone IMO but look for Kelly from Cinn. for that job... IMO....

I think we take one RB and I think that back is Dyer.... that is just an opinion. But Malzhan isn't going to last long down there. Mosely is a key. I think his dad loves Coach O and wants Dakota to play at UT. I would take him even if Dyer didn't come after watching the game on ESPN U Friday. I am not sure how much pull Harison Mosely has with Dyer but in the end I think Dyer gives us a second look and with this staff that is all it will take.... Seastrunk and Reed IMO both will end up Tigers , that is LSU Tigers. Which IMO also helps us in 2011 with Hillard and Landry. They are two of the top 5 players in La. We already one other one in Johnson committed.....

2. Perhaps Simms (or someone else) is a silent for now? Will simply show up for class in January? No need to scare off Bray.

6. I say we take one more. Maybe another silent commit.

8. Kelly to ND sounds like a good fit. Strong leaving Fla would seem to help TN recruiting.

9. I think this one will get interesting, and if I had to bet, I would put my money on TN. Getting the visit will be the key.

10. I could see the potential that this one goes to signing day. It is probably a marathon and not a sprint.

This is one of the most, if not the most, intriguing recruiting seasons that I have ever witnessed. It is amazing to me how many early enrollees we have, and we are still getting top players. In my opinion, the early enrollees is key to next season's success. If we can also pull in top 3 in the country talent, that will be simply amazing.

Most of us on here don't claim to be experts. We just get excited about TN football and like to talk about.
What better place to do that than in a TN Vols Forum?
We ask for your opinions because we obviously respect what you have to say (you in particular Sab).
Respond to it or don't, but don't attack them for trying to converse about a subject they are passionate about.

It's going to happen. Just come into it knowing that. Happens to me all the time. I've learned to roll with it. You're never as smart as they tell you you are and never as dumb as they accuse you of being.

But like you, many of us come here for news and would rather not have to filter through ridiculous threads started just to ask a question to get it.

But what Joey was talking about is how MHFan learns so much on this site, that he probably impresses his friends with his knowledge. He didn't mean anything negative.

It seems like Brian Kelly may end up at ND, and they would only impact us in that we could take one of the ND QBs maybe if Weis was fired.

I thought Powell was also an EE and so would be decided soon. I did not know Simms was an EE, definitely kills the rumor I read that the coaching staff wanted to see how much Bray bulked up and how he looked on campus in January before deciding about offering a second QB, unless the second QB has never been M Simms.

Sab I am sorry you still seem mad about the OL thread, I was just stunned to see someone I use as a major source for recruiting news do that. It was like watching Michael Jordan hurt himself missing a dunk.

I do not tell my friends in real life much about Vols recruiting, I have found that very few of them care that much about Vols football. They are not even that excited in February to hear about who we actually signed, and they certainly do not want to speculate about who we might possibly sign. In the sickness of Vol recruiting, I have it bad, and some of my friends who are former players do not care nearly as much. I also never ask for or receive "insider" info, and if I had some I would email it like Larry to people I knew instead of posting it on a free site, ensuring I would never be given insider info again.
