5 Patron shots into the evening here are some quick observations:

1) It was great to see Pat Riley get vindication tonight.
2) Clinton Portis is one cool dude.
3) The Heat started the second half with a lineup consisting entirely of former SEC players.
4) Miami is well on its way to replacing LA as the hottie capital of the US.
5) Anyone who thinks basketball isn't a contact sport should sit courtside and watch Shaq and Big Ben go at it.
6) Janet Jackson looks fine after the weight loss.
7) Warren Sapp is one funny guy.
8) Eminen and Nate Dogg should work together more often.
9) Patron should replace water in public drinking fountains.
10) ESPN needs to hire CBS 4's Jill Martin to replace Shelley Smith and/or Holly Rowe. Now. Immediately.

Well, I'm back out into the night. The party's just starting here.

11) If Hatvol is breathing, he's name dropping.

Breathing is too kind. Just plain "hitting the sauce" is more realistic. :biggrin2:

If Duke had as many players and coaches represented in this series ESPN would be giving them so much hype. It is hard to believe that they never gave any love to UK or the SEC for all of the representation in this series.

As far as Miami goes, an influx of Cubans is expected (800,000) whenever Castro passes away.He is soon to be 80.UM is currently doing studies.Might get a bit crowded.

You're jumping the gun. Castro's personal physician released a statement last week saying that he was good until the age of 140. :ill_h4h:

Tayshaun Prince and Tony Delk (Tennessee boy) play for the Pistons. So does McDyess.

The Heat had another guy from Kentucky early in the season, but he ended up in Houston. Bogans, I think.

If a decent percentage of them look like the Latinas that were at the Clevelander and Mansion last night, I'm all for it.

A very good evening/early morning. However, I'm realizing more and more that I don't recover as well at 35 as I did at 25. It was pretty rough until about 7PM.

I've never been to the dog races. Is the wagering set up along the same lines as horse racing?

10 pictures might have been more better.
I'm not into the whole camera phone thing. Next weekend will be even crazier. Jenna Jameson & Company will be in town for an "Adult Entertainment" convention.

To be honest. I have never been to a horse track but if it's trifecta, quinella(sp),to win,to show, place, thats basically how it works.

I figured as much. It sounds like it operates essentially the same.

I've been to both (horse and dog) and the betting is pretty much the same. The tracks decide which types of bets are allowable (for example, Keeneland in Lexington is very conservative in terms of bets allowed - Daily Doubles-yes; Trifectas - no; Exactas - yes; Quinella's - recently added).

The problem I've seen with dog tracks is that low turn-outs really screw up the odds. There's not enough money in the betting pools so that a 15-1 can go to 2-1 in a second as a few more bets get placed. It's tough to find good mid-range and long-shot dogs because you have no idea where the odds will end up at race time.

On the other hand, every horse track I've been to (Del Mar, Arlington, Keeneland) has a large enough attendance to stabilize the odds.

You get some pretty small turnouts on weekdays down here at Calder. You will see 8-1 go to 5-2 pretty quick. I've never seen that at Churchill, Belmont, or Turfway.

At the dog track here (Birmingham) you'll see all kinds of weird odds - such as 1-9! One of the times I was there a 30-1 would go to a 3-2 in a manner of minutes. When you check the toteboard, there's about $100 total on it and maybe $1500 in the whole paramutual pool for the race! It's a complete crapshoot.
