Power forward
Memphis (TN) Ridgeway

AAU: Memphis Magic
Ht: 6-foot-8
Wt: 230 lbs
Class: 2010 (High School)

Alabama and Memphis, Arkansas, Baylor, Ole Miss, Missouri, Tennessee, Northern Illinois and UTEP have offered Black.

"Tarik has only played ball for two years, but he is a beast," said Robinson of the Memphis Magic. "He has a 7-foot-1 wing span and is going to be very good."

At 6-foot-8, 230-pounds, Black is an explosive athlete who plays bigger than his size. He can protect the basket with his shot blocking ability and has the ability to rebound outside of his area. He's not just a shot blocker and rebounder, though. Black has a developing repertoire of post move and has the ability to hit the face up jumper.

Kid plays with a mean streak. Very Raw, just started playing basketball of few years ago, A taller version of DeJuan Blair IMO, excellent wingspan. Plays on same AAU team as Joe Jackson (Memphis Magic)

Do you think they'll go to memphis or somewhere else. I think if pearl scouts them and really wants them it would be hard for them to say no with Cal leaving. I think we have a legit shot with Jackson and Black. But if you don't think they go orange. Where do you have them?

They'll be the centerpieces of Josh Pastner's first real recruiting class. They'll have zero problem saying no to Bruce Pearl.

Word out of Memphis is he committed to the Tigers today

That word is true...Just another good pick up for Coach Paz. Next year will be sick with what Memphis can put on the floor. Btw. good call on this one Hat. :hi:

We should have a basketball recruiting area seperate from the football area...Make it easier to sort through.

Basketball recruiting is discussed a lot more in the main basketball forum, but I agree that a separate forum would be beneficial, especially with the season having started.

During the fall, I will always don the Orange and White. But immediately after the conclusion of the last game of Football season, being a naive Memphian, I don the Blue and Gray for Hardwood season until Spring practice. All that to say this, Yeahhhhhhhhhhh!!!(in my Lil Jon voice) No offense to Vols fan, I could cheer Vols Basketball but if you are from Memphis, you could better understand the situation. I'll be darned to cheer for any Football Team but the Vols. Sad but any native from the state of Memphis understands.

I'm from Memphis, born and raised, and I despise the Tigers and their fans, both in basketball and football. When I was 6 to 8 years old I would wear my UT orange flag as a cape to every Memphis game my dad or grandfather would drag me to.

I love Memphis the city, but Tiger fans are the most ungrateful/delusional fans around. O and when they're winning, they are by far the most obnoxious.

That is true but real tiger fans love their team as much as we love the Vols in Football! I remeber when in school and the Tigers had Tic Price as a coach(which was as big as joke as Jerry Green's discipline). We would be in the student section and half would cheer for the Tigers and Thompson/Boiling would be fuming! We got love for the Tigers but not everyone but you still know there are millions who cheer Memphis BBall and VOl FBall.
