Toney Hurd Jr. - Football Recruiting

Scout.com: Tony Hurd Profile

Hurd also has offers from Oregon, Auburn, Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, Arizona, Oregon State, Kansas and Baylor, among others. “I really like the SEC so if I get a chance, I’d like to check out Auburn and Tennessee,” he said.

“Tennessee has some new coaches too and I’m definitely interested in getting to know them better,” he said.

“For a fact, I know that I will be going to LSU. I am also going to Auburn. I will be attending camp at Tennessee, maybe. I am also going to Florida, USC, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and a couple of other schools.”

Hopefully Coach WMG can pull one or two of these DB recruits out of Texas.

That what I was thinking when I saw what position he played and where he was from......I love having a staff that has ties to almost everywhere in the country,

“I got an offer (Wednesday) from Ole Miss and Missouri. Notre Dame offered last week. I have more than 20 offers right now. I’m hyped about it, but it’s just a blessing to have all these coaches that would like to have me at their school."

Per Scout... This kid's stock is exploding. I think you can expect him to be moved up from a 3star shortly...

With Auburn and Knoxville also potential stops this summer, it looks as though Hurd has a desire to play in the SEC.

"The SEC is a big-time conference, and I am ready for the best," he said. "I will just have to see what happens. July will be a big visit month for me."

Under Armour All-American cornerback Toney Hurd, Jr., (Missouri City, Texas/Marshall) is getting ready for his season and is getting ready to plan official visits.
"I want to start to get into my season and then wait to take at least two or three visits before I start to narrow it down," Hurd said. "California offered me and I would like to get out there because I have never been out there. I also would like to visit Tennessee and see what Knoxville is like."

Hurd said the Vols and Golden Bears, along with Texas A&M, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame and Oregon all continue to recruit him.

"There are others, too, but those are the ones that are after me the hardest off the top of my head," he said.

Hurd also has some things he's going to be looking at closely when he goes to make his final decision.

"I want to go to a school where the coaching staff is going to be honest with you," Hurd said. "I have talked to a lot of coaches so far and they all tell you different things. I also will be looking at the depth chart and would like the opportunity to compete for a starting job as a freshman. I will also be paying attention to the communication on the team as a whole."

Right now, Hurd is busy getting ready for his team's season opener next weekend against Houston Lamar.

"I have been working both sides of the ball," Hurd said. "I have been playing all over the secondary and then I go and I play on offense at wide receiver. I like playing wide receiver.

Sounds like we are in pretty good with him, and I wouldnt expect us to be taking more than 2-3 CB's in this class.

You're probably right. His home in Missouri City, TX (Houston area) is within easy driving distance to College Station.

The Aggies haven't been very good lately, though. :dunno:

He was interested in us a long time ago. The fact that we slow played him I hope was not because we thought we had Shaw and Riley coming...That would suck.
