Ricky Heimuli - Football Recruiting

Scout.com: Ricky Heimuli Profile

"Ricky has received his 20th offer this past weekend and second one from the SEC," said his brother, Sefo. "The University of Tennessee told Ricky that they're sending him an offer and how they really think he's the perfect fit for their program."

The Vols join LSU in offering Heimuli out of the SEC.

"Ricky spoke with Coach (Jim) Chaney over the phone and Ricky really liked what they have to offer so he's really excited to build their relationship," said Sefo.

Per Scout... He is a 4 star on Rivals and is the #6 DT in the nation. On Scout, he is a 4 star and is the #12 DT in the nation...

Just going off of measurements, this is about Orgeron's perfect DT. You know he's good for people to be going out to Utah to see him though.

In all seriousness, I have a cousin in Utah who grew up playing pee wee football with this guy. My uncle has done some real estate stuff for this guys family and talked to him recently and he said he seems to have serious interest in Tennessee and loves the coaching staff.

I want him...if nothing else just to hear our local sports idiots butcher his name all the time

Looking at his measurements 2 things stand out. His speed for his size is impressive, but his bench seems pretty lite. I know our s&c program can change that but for a guy his size you think it would be more.

I think this guy would be a perfect fit for our defense. I would love to have this guy over a lot of DT's we've been recruiting. However, ultimately I trust the ability of the staff to evaluate over mine.

I've seen bench numbers go up 60 pounds in the summer from junior to senior year. The kid may be a late bloomer.

I wonder how many people will jump off board when they see he's LDS. I'm personally not sweating our line depth based on our early recruiting success and the spring practice reports. Tennessee will be in good shape by the time a guy like this came back and if he takes a while to get back into rhythm, so what?

Rivals 5/13 article

I was planning, if the school I chose, lets me go on a Mission I would play as a freshman and after that head off to my Mission (for two years) and then come back to finish.

No thanks, why waste the time recruiting a kid that you know is going to come back after 2 years in crap shape?

I could understand if it was some cant-miss prospect, but not for a guy that you can easily replace in your class.

just my opinion on the matter...

cut it to ten schools and we arent one of them...

Probably for the best... after his mission he would probably just transfer to BYU. No need to scare the Evan Hailes of the world off with someone who's gonna be around 1 year.

Hailes committed to Penn State last month.
