Will Hagerup - Football Recruiting

"Obviously it was great to get an offer from Tennessee," Hagerup said. "Tennessee is a great school and one of the programs that is a football dynasty. They are in the SEC and I was really excited to get an offer from an SEC school. I'm going to visit Tennessee while I'm on spring break."

"I look at how my brother did things," Hagerup said. "He red-shirted and he was thankful for the extra year to get adjusted to things and the chance to soak everything in. I wouldn't care either way to tell you the truth. I'd love to get some reps in early, but I'll understand if the coaches think I need to red-shirt."

"My decision will depend on what happens during the summer. I'd like to make my decision sometime in July or August before my senior year starts. We'll see."

That video makes him look really good. I hope we get this guy and he can continue our punter legacy. There aren't anymore Colquitt's for a while.

Who recruits our punters? I'm guessing Gran.

Eddie Gran made the formal offer. As the special teams coach, I would expect him to be the most heavily involved with kickers and punters. There may be special circumstances, though, down the line where another coach is more involved in a particular recruitment.

The Gators are recruiting him exclusively as a punter. Hagerup plans to visit Gainesville in June.

"It's as good as it gets from a football standpoint," Hagerup said of Florida. "Two of the last three national championships, so it's impressive and it's special to me that they've shown interest. While football is not the only reason I'll be going to a college, I want to get a good degree, that's something that's pretty cool about the university but I know it's a strong university in general.

"He's 6-4 and any time you're 6 feet to 6-4, it's a perfect height for a punter," McCabe(kicking instructor) said. "He has a tremendous leg, very strong and fast. He has really good technique.

Plans on waiting as long as it takes to make a decision.

Hagerup is the most highly recruited punter in the nation right now. After a slow start to the process, things have heated up considerably for the 6-foot-4, 215-pound specialist out of Whitefish Bay, Wis. After initial offers came in from Iowa State and Purdue, in-state Wisconsin offered.

Then, SEC schools like Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee and Alabama came along with offers. Indiana, where his brother plays, also wants the strong-legged athlete.

"I really cannot say enough about how much I like Florida."

"I was down there over my spring break for about four days and absolutely loved it," Hagerup said. "Every day I saw something new about the place and I really, really was impressed by everything."

Per Rivals... I hate my life...

Your despondency is making me feel too good.

Pull up your bootstraps and remember that 2nd place in the SEC East is an extraordinary yet attainable achievement.

I must say, a four day unofficial visit is pretty long. He must have REALLY liked iit to stay that long.

Is there some mechanism for exterminating a thread? I think this may be one of those situations.

I wasnt disreguarding ST. I want him, and it sucks we dont have a chance.

Relax Matt, my comment was for the guy who said he's
"just a punter".

You're a good guy fan if you know how much a good punter is worth. I'm not trying to bust anyone's chops, just a good natured teasing every once in a while.

After that wild thread last week, you seem like a guy who can handle a little teasing. :salute:
