It was very lopsided last year. The East, while not exactly superb, was on a completely different level than the West, mainly because the West was something worse than terrible.

I don't like the fact that the schedule is still based on divisions, if they aren't going to show separate standings. So, Tennessee still has a much harder schedule than the teams in the "West," but now we will actually be listed below some of them in the standings. To someone who doesn't know who's playing who twice, this will make us look even worse than we are.

When they changed divisions, I'm pretty sure conference scheduling was nearly penciled in so no reason to change it this year but you'll notice a difference next year.

And maybe not mentioned was the tournament setup (i.e. a team from the west could fair very poorly yet still get a bye based on order of finish; meanwhile 2 SEC east team's with better records forced to play day 1)




I'm not certain, but I believe that fed a bit into the issue
