Scout.com: Conner Preston Profile

"They were initially recruiting me when coach O and Kiffin were there," Preston said. "They left and it slowed down a little bit. Now it has picked back up a bit. My coach has talked to coach Dooley and recruiting coordinator Terry Joseph."

Preston has been in the quarterback circles in California for years. His mentor groomed Tom Brady, and Preston knows former Vol Casey Clausen.

"Depending on how much interest they show this spring, I will probably attend their camp,"

"I really like SMU, Tennessee, Oregon, Washington and Arizona," Preston admitted. "Tennessee is really up there even though I haven't had too much exposure to them. I really admire their program.

"My mom is from Dallas, We are kind of a southern family living in California. I am interested in maybe playing in the SEC. I love the tradition that Tennessee has. And they have good academics. I really thought that if I went to go to an SEC school it would be to Tennessee."

Stats are good. I would like another inch or two in height but, he sounds solid.

I'd also imagine his competition out there is a bit tougher. Be nice to have a guy with that athleticism in the pocket, which is why I still want to secure Worley. But stats look good, need to get him out here for a visit/camp.

Save the scholarships for another OL. Bray will be handle things for the next couple of years. We need to hit QB's hard for the 2012 class. There are better players coming out in that class anyway. OL is the most pressing issue for the 2011 class. Just my 2 cents.

Still gotta build relationships and in-roads in these type schools. Only helps down the road !

hmm. I dunno. I think if we miss on Worley, then this guy might get an offer. JMO.

Sounds good to me. We definitely don't need both - that'd give us Simms, Bray, Nance, Worley, and Preston for 2011. Worley is still my first choice for 2010, but if we lose out on him, this guy might be a good option.

Good question. Worley/Rivers or Worley/Preston would be a good pair for the class.

I feel confident we get Worley. If Bama offers, it could get interesting though. Two QBs in this class will be likely.
