Mattox attended a Junior Day at Georgia and said he would also like to head to Columbia for one. He talked about the important factors in his recruiting.

"First, I want to go to a school that is good academically. I want to get my degree if my football career doesn't turn out. I want to play under a good offensive-minded coach who can show the defense a lot of different looks. Preferably, like a legendary coach."

Mattox plans to decide between this summer or early in his senior season because he wants to graduate high school in December.

"I'm open to a lot of different things. I'm kind of early in my recruiting so I'm thinking and soaking everything in."

"I don't really have a favorite right now. I'm open-minded, looking at everybody and giving everybody a fair shot and seeing what everybody has to offer."
Clarke Central's Martay Mattox is a dual threat quarterback who is getting interest from a number of schools, including Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, and N.C. State. He got his first offer on September 1st from USF, and he is also hoping to hear from Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Michigan and Tennessee.

Clarke Central? Eh... will be hard to get him out of Athens. But hey, Chuck Smith came from there...and Dooley

UGA's number one QB target in GA next year will be Nick Marshall. Hell, he already is. I have not heard of them being interested in Mattox as a QB prospect. After Marshall, at the moment, UGA is looking out of state. Mattox is also not likely near the top of their receiving board as three other names have been consistently mentioned with regards to the WR position- 1 out of state and two in state right now.

Offer him it cant hurt anything he reminds me of Russell Sheppard plus we need to lock down Georgia considering we cant lock down Tennessee.

I think this kid plays for Dooley's HS alma matter, Clarke Central. We might have a legitimate shot here, or at least receive some interest. I think UT would recruit him as an Ath.

I wont lose any sleep over it. IMO he is too small to play quarterback in the SEC. Needless to say I also said Randall Cobb wasn't going to see the field and Kensucky.

He is pretty good but I just dont see him making any soft of impact in the NFL. He doesn't have any sub 4.3 speed. He does play with heart but he can only ride on that for so long.

In other words, he's no Chris Johnson. That guy is fast. He's so fast, he makes fast people look not fast.

Some 340 lb. NT will crush his heart along with several other vital organs. Dude is way too small to play in the league. IMO, Trindan Holliday will have a bigger impact than McCluster. He's small but he's built like a brick.

Who? Has he not been rated yet?

We can get a GA qb this year....Marshall or Uzomah.....rather have Marshall.
