Devonte Brown - Yahoo! Sports

"I've handed this video to three different schools in the last week and all three have offered. Carolina, Duke and NC State have all offered scholarships. He's supposed to go to Clemson this weekend and I would be shocked if he doesn't get an offer from Clemson also."

"He is a big, athletic kid that can run and move," the head coach said. "He was literally chasing down wide receivers from his defensive tackle position. He's still got to get better with his hands and stuff technique wise but athletically his potential is through the roof. I know that everyone has all those top 10 lists for the top players in the state and I think this kid is a top five player in this state. He's just that good athletically."

So where does he project at the next level?

"He could easily weigh 300 in a couple years and be a powerhouse," the Jack Britt head man said. "He's more of an inside guy, not that he couldn't play on the end but he's a thicker kid. I just think in a couple years he's going to be 310 pounds and a three technique that can still get a pass rush but also be stout against the run."

Per Rivals... The above qutoes are from his high school coach.

Brown is a teammate of Vol commit Eric MacLain. He has not received a Vol offer yet, but he might when the staff receives his new film. It would be great if MacLain could get Brown to come up with him for Junior Day. He is definitely one to keep an eye on at our greatest position of need.

I say we need at least 1 JUCO ready to step in immediately

Meh, I would take 4 freshmen over any Juco unless it was a stud Juco with 3 to play.

John Brown will be a Senior.
Hughes will be a Junior.
Arthur Jeffery a RS Soph.
Rae Sykes Senior.

Now, if Brown and AJ are busts or not productive then a high level Juco would be solid but if those 4 can produce then we need youth more.

a normal dtackle minimum rotation is 5-6. Yes, we need 1-2 jucos if we can get quality guys.

nope.

like I said, with as many DTs as we have offered lately, I'm very surprised we haven't offered Brown or Chris Mayes.

It probably will be a tough pull from Clemson with MacLain already being there.

"I would say that Clemson, North Carolina, Florida and Tennessee are the main four in no order. Those are the ones I like right now. It's still the same, I can't really say I have a favorite. I'm still mixing things up and waiting for my mom to take these visits with me. I'm still open."
