He was at the Under Armor event in Charlotte this weekend. Would he be a good fall back candidate if we strike out with LeMay? He seems to be listed about 25 lbs heavier than LeMay at 215.

What is the word on the street about this guy and have we offered?

I am pretty sure this kid plays at Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte. I have heard a lot of good things about him. I know Cam Newton was a 5 star but that is who this kid reminds me of. I think he is kinda under the radar right now.

Scout's evaluation: We are not on his radar yet....
Combine Numbers: 6-3/215
Quick Take: Feeling a little like Tim Tebow, Williams showed off a new, compact release that seemed a little awkward to him with a couple of instances blending his old motion with the new one, but the ball came out with consistent impressive velocity and good spin. Does have a tendency to make it a little too hot on shorter routes where he can take something off and be more accurate. Struggled with footwork taking snaps from under center after coming from a shotgun-only offense.
Recruiting: Lists his favorites as LSU, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech.

His offer list says otherwise.

This kid is the new "it" name on many boards....UF just offered, kid film looks legit needs the right system but I agree more like Cam than Tebow. He'll remind many Vol fans of Brent Schaeffer out of HS. Other names that wil become hot after the list are released and some camps: Kevin Hogan, Jacoby Brissett and Nick Marshall.

I like that I get a chance to check these guys out being that I live in Charlotte. Lemay is the most talked about in this area, mostly bc he goes to a NC high school. Worley is still getting some love and I'm pretty sure he went to the same high school as Jonathan Heffney, who is also from Rock Hill, SC.. Not sure if that will help but it couldn't hurt.. Now this guy. There is some serious talent in this area.

No doubt about it.

Rock Hill High, Northwestern and now South Pointe are pumping out D1 players year in and year out. Butler High in Charlotte as well. Independence is starting to slip a little.

Williams has cut his list down to Michigan, UNC, and VT and will be announcing his college decision next Saturday. I expect it to be UNC.

The real way it affects the Vols is due to the fact that Williams is one of the 3 main QB recruits for LSU along with Brissett and Worley, who appear to be UTs top 2 QB targets followed by Ely.

It looks like UT and LSU now have the same QB board, with FSU also going after Rivers, Brissett, Worley, and Ely (probably in that order).

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Interesting. Everyone seems to think Brissett is a done deal if Pearl lets him play basketball too. It seems to me he could use a football scholarship and just let him be a walk on for basketball, but assure him a chance for playing time. We all know Pearl isn't shy about playing walk-ons.

I dont understand why we aren't high on Rivers. He is raw, but has a lot of long-term potential IMO.

Agreed, with Bray in the mix it seems like we would be willing to take on someone in this class who has more upside, but might be a bit of a project. It's not like the kid will be asked to come in and start as a true or even redshirt freshman.

I think he should take the basketball scholly instead that way we can use a football scholly on someone else.

The problem with Brissett isn't him playing two sports but its playing two sports and being a SEC QB. He has more upside playing football but I'm hearing his heart is really playing BB( Cortez Davis FSU) so as a coach do you risk a QB scholly on a kid that not sure if he really wants to play college football. Look how bad the Ronald Curry thing turned out productions and development wise.
