Running Back
Lodi (CA) Lodi
Ht: 6-foot-0
Wt: 175 lbs
Forty: 4.53 secs
Bench max: 240 pounds
Squat max: 400 pounds
Vertical: 33 inches

A good friend of mine has been training (he is a sports performance coach in Northern California) this kid since last football season. He was telling me that kid has started to pick up a lot of interest this off season. Verbal offers from majority of the Pac 10, Michigan, and Vandy already (note he has a high GPA). Anyway, my buddy says that the kids has expressed a strong interest in the Big 12 and SEC, with emphasis on the SEC. Perkins has supposedly shown very well this summer.

Reports from my friend are that he has grown to 6'1 and is now around 200 lbs. Also, 40, vert, bench, ad squat have improved from listed info on Rivals.

At least there's no problem putting talent in the backfield. Now to find a quaterback?

Its been clarified to me that the kids weight is around 185 at this time. Strength has improved over the posted Rivals numbers. Has improved the 40 time to a 4.4

Update:

SEC interest is picking up a little bit. Vandy and LSU most notably.

Hamstring injury has limited carries early on this season.

Is hoping to attend TN camp next summer!

Season to date:

134 carries for 1038 yards (7.75 ypc and 130 ypg) and 10 touchdowns

9 receptions for 231 yards (25.5 ypc) and 2 touchdowns

Not bad numbers when you consider he was hampered by a injury early on and he plays on a team that has won just 3 games.

Still getting interest from some big schools across the country. Still hearing that he will try to attend UT camp this summer. I would tend to think that a kid like Artaves Gibson from Memphis would be a little higher up our list at the moment, but this is one to keep an out for. Especially if he makes it to camp and impresses the staff.

Perkins plays for my local school, and I've seen him play at a dozen times the past two years. He's a good back in our area, but I think he is more hype than anything else. He is fast, but I doubt he has the tools be successful in any BCS conference, let alone the SEC. Perkins will have a much better year next year Fall 10, his senior year, as this year the team was mostly Jr's. My kids tell me he's a good kid, focused on getting a scholarship, and the grades are real.

I've been scouting kids for a long time and Jordan Perkins is a legitamate back. I work with many schools in the SEC and Jordan has the potential to be a great back in any conference! I've seen him play twice and this young man can run the ball extremely well, with great field vision and he has excellent hands out of the backfield. He has the intangibles along with the grades! He just got the invite to participate in the army national combine that takes the top 500 juniors in the nation. If this young man works hard in the offseason he could be one of the premier senior backs in the country for 2011. I will keep y'all posted with what I hear! I'm not sure what the previous poster was speaking of in regards to Jordan being "hype" but with the rb's I've scouted for the SEC and BIg 12, Jordan's skills are definately worthy for a BCS conference. I hope Tennessee tries to get him!
