Tray Becton-Martin - Yahoo! Sports

Kid impressed at the Army combine...lists Tennessee among his favorites.

ASSETS: Becton-Martin was perhaps the single best route-runner at the entire combine. He has the ability to get in and out of breaks quickly, turn defenders and create separation.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Becton-Martin doesn't give himself an advantage at his current size. He has good speed but isn't a burner, decent height but isn't a big body.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT COMBINE: If a receiver is judged by how bad he makes a defensive back look, Becton-Martin gets the nod as the top man at the combine. There were multiple occasions when he left receivers completely clueless as to how he got open.
CONCLUSION: Becton-Martin is a sure-thing Division I college receiver and definitely has potential to be a good BCS receiver if he can take the kind of success he had on Friday into other settings.

He recently competed at the US Army All American Combine in San Antonio and was one of the events top performers. After his sizzling performance, Becton-Martin is looking for his recruitment to take off.

Becton-Martin got a chance to prove that his name warrants discussion not only as Tennessee's top wide receiver prospect in the 2011 cycle, but also one of the better prospects nationwide. "I was really nervous at first" said Becton-Martin.

In addition to coming of a junior campaign that saw him catch 40 passes for 602 and 10 total TD's in 9 games, and his US Army All American combine performer, Becton-Martin has heard from a couple of new schools as a result of his exploits.

"I'm also getting a lot of mail from Miami, Oregon, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Ole Miss. I don't know who I like at this point, but I would say my top 8 schools would be in no particular order, Arkansas, UGA, Florida, Miami, Memphis, Alabama, Missouri and Ole Miss."

"I'm going to go to all the schools I am interested in and I know for sure camps at Alabama and LSU" said Becton-Martin. "I'm also going to go to a Nike Combine in the spring."

This is a kid that has spent a lot of time at UGA games with the Long family. Martin and the Younger Long are pretty good friends.

Kid from Tenn, states he likes Tenn, but he named Oregon his leader, then commits to Southern Miss.

Granted, I didn't keep up with this kid, but wow...

While it's nice that he's an in-state prospect, the Destruction Dooley mob would be all over taking a commitment from someone with offers from Southern Miss, Memphis, MTSU, Arkansas State, and Murray State. And even I would have to scratch my head there.
