Rivals Profile

Barnes holds no offers ATP, he is teammates with '11 Vol Commit Tom Smith.

"I have been getting letters and talking to a couple of schools," Barnes said. "The main two schools I have talked to are Texas Tech and Rutgers."

"I can play any position that a college wants me to play but I am probably a slot-back," Barnes added. "I can play in the slot for sure."

Considering: Rutgers and Texas Tech are showing a lot of interest.
Performance: Barnes was a complementary runner in Apopka's rushing attack against Olympia. He consistently averaged 5 yards per touch.
Strengths: Barnes has excellent quickness to the hole and very good top-end speed. He showed good vision at recognizing the hole and attacking it. He is a home-run hitting back. He also displayed good hands that would allow him to be used in the slot or in a variety of ways.
Weaknesses: Barnes is simply small, checking in at just 5-foot-9. He will need to continue to strengthen his base and show an ability to drop his shoulder and punish defenders when they do get in his path. Will need to figure out a primary future role - running back, wide receiver, cornerback, or special teams returner - and focus on developing at that spot. - Chris Nee

I just watched this before you posted it after reading the Tom Smith thread. Definitely one to keep your eye on. Future APB prospect.

I saw him play earlier this year on ESPN. He's very quick and elusive. At 5'9" 170lbs he's actually bigger than I thought from watching him on TV..

From Elite Scouting Services:

Look to the future: Quay Barnes-Apopka-He may be the 2012 version of Chevelle Buie. When Barnes touches the football something special could happen. He can make big plays on special teams as well.
