Michael Orris
Crete, Illinois

Released from LOI to Illinois today because of Weber being canned. CCM knows this kid as he was recruiting him while at Missouri state.

3* rivals

Offer list: Creighton, drake, Illinois, Nebraska

Scout: Michael Orris played for Illinois Old School at the Gym Rats Basketball National Championships. He impressed college coaches with his quickness off the bounce and ability to get in the lane at will. His leadership and point guard skills were evident. He also showed he could score, as was shown when he dropped 40 points in one game.

Hmmm...I'm trying to figure out what our needs are at this point. I guess we can't be too sure until we get some commits for 2013.

What do you think, BTO? Is this a guy that would help us with our needs in the future?

IMO orris or Cameron would be decent adds. We could use some PG depth immediately, and in the future you're not sure about Landry. What happens if he blows up and leaves for a better offer in his mind. Or what happens if he regresses, he is only a 2* and not too highly rated.

At the same time were in on Newkirk for 13' who's a stud pg. can you afford to have that many on scholly, and if you sign one of these two plus Landry does Newkirk want to come here?

I guess my answer is I don't really know, immediately it'd probably help, but it may hurt the 13' class.

I agree. Unless these are talented guys under the radar, I want to see us get a few more highly recruited 4 and 5 star caliber players. We're going to need them to even come close to competing with KY every year.

I just don't know how I feel about taking anymore kids this year. It seems you are kicking yourself twice, once to ask a current guy to transfer/look elsewhere and then you've burned a scholly you might want back in 2013. Apparently Martin and company are still not certain about PG or these guys wouldn't keep popping up, but at some point I wonder if the gain for this season would outweigh what you're losing in 2013.

I think the 2012 team will compete for a conference title and a decent run in the NCAA. I just don't think adding a 3 star freshman PG does much to improve on that. Whereas, if 2012 does go well, a strong 2013 recruiting class could set you up for a good 3 or 4 year run.

That's kind of my feelings as well. If we land one I'll be excited and support the decision by the coach, but hope it doesn't hurt us in the 2013 class. I agree though, with these names popping up it would appear that CCM isn't to sure about the backup PG position.

As you said, I think 2012 should be a good season. Compete in the SEC, win 20+ games, and make the dance, I'll be happy with that. Does adding either of these 2 guys impact your team that much? I don't think you can expect either of these guys to come in and start so they'd only be getting back up minutes. How much does that really change the outcome of our season? IMO, not enough to take on one of them for 4 years, and risk losing out on some more talented players for the 2013 class.

I'd like to stand pat, try and improve what we have and have the best year we can. You have a good year, and it's going to look good to all of those guys you're recruiting and should increase tennessees chances of a great class even more. Jmo

On our BearNation board, a guy posted he read an article about Orris that said his final 5 were KState, Pitt, BC, MO State, and Valpo and that he wanted to make a decision quickly

I would think K State is the favorite since he committed to Weber once already
