12 TN RB I'tavius Mathers

He's good. Plays the toughest comp. in the state, but has only played one of the "tough" teams. Siegel would be a top 2-3 team in every other district in the state though. His team will proabably finish 3rd or 4th in D7.

They will finish 4th behind Riverdale, Oakland and Smyrna who has a combine 9 football championship titles in their district alone, their schedule has teams with combine total of 12 football state titles in football, he's playing some compitition!:clapping:

Last night, I'tavius had 124 yards on 22 carries and 1 touchdown against #1 ranked 6a school Oakland. Also had about a 50 yard kickoff return and threw for a 2 point conversion. I'tavius now has 1,512 yards on 132 carries. By the way Blackman beat Oakland last night 17 - 14.

Screw Oakland, Franklin is coming for them this year. They barely beat us in the title game two years ago.

I'd love to land this kid & Kimbrow in next years class. You'd have a speed back in Kimbrow & a power back in Mathers.

Mathers isn't a power back.

Maybe I should have rephrased that better, I did'nt mean he was a pure power back, from the video I've seen of Mathers he doesnt have that gear he needs to just purely run away from people like Kimbrow does. Mathers seems like the type of back you can give the ball to 20-25 times a game & run him between the tackles while Kimbrow is the type you want to get out in space with his speed.

Agreed. Mathers can grow into an every down back.

I really like this kid as a RB, he plays some good competition & puts up some great stats. I know he wont be highly rated next year but he is becoming one of my favorite recruits for the state in next years class.

Tonight 31 carries for 234 yards against #7 ranked 6A Brentwood and 4 touchdowns. For the season, he is now at 1,748 yards on 161 carries.

Quote from Brentwood coach Ron Crawford out of DNJ "I’m trying to think about the guys we had at Riverdale in all of my years there,” said Brentwood coach Ron Crawford, a former Riverdale assistant under then-coach Gary Rankin. “He’s as good at getting out of tackles and all of that as anybody I’ve ever played against. That was the hardest time that any of our teams have had at tackling a running back.”

I'tavius received his 1st D1 offer today from Vanderbilt. Come on Dooley, get on him.

Blackman High Career Rushing Yards Record

1 2439 Rico Turner 2000-2002
2 1987 Jeremy Mimms 2003-2006
3 1964 Kenny Meredith 2002-2004
4 1791 Mauricio Wallace 2004-2007
5 1748 I'tavius Mathers 2008-Present
6 1472 Michael Maupin 2000-2002

School CAREER rushing record, idk what Mathers stats were from last year but with this year alone he ranks 5th in the schools record books for career rushing yards. He will own the school rushing TD mark by the end of the season.

The kid is already 6'0 190 & runs a 4.5 40, by the end of his Senior year he could be 6'1 200 & run a 4.4. On top of that he plays against some of the best competition in the state, people want to question the type of talent Young goes against well Mathers plays ALOT tougher. If he decideds to go to any camps this summer his stock could blow up, I really hope Dooley & staff get on this kid. We could have a STUD back in our own backyard.

Also, has anyone heard about coaches wanting him to play LB in College? I remember reading that somewhere the other day but could'nt remember where.
