12 TN RB I'tavius Mathers

Kid. Is. Sick. Fast & Strong. Don't know if he is an every down back in the SEC, but he can play in the SEC. He has torn up the best district in the state in the biggest classification. He has run through, around, and over every team he has played, except the team he plays this week.

I think itll be interesting to see how he does this week. Blackman is improving and Smyrna probably has the best defense in the state. Huge game.

Huge game this week. Smyrna is the only team to hold him under 100. I think he's had over 150 in every other game actually.

I will be there. I'll try to get some news on his performance once it becomes available to me. :hi:

One has to think that whoever puts up better numbers between I'tavius and Deon Meadows this Friday would make a strong case for being Mr. Football for Class 6A.

Mathers is up for Back, Meadows is up for Lineman.

Blackman travels to Smyrna for a pivotal 3rd round playoff game. Today is also I'tavius's 17th birthday.

Happy birthday, young man, from VolNation! Good luck tonight!

I saw this kid play early in the season against Tullahoma....S-T-U-D. His stats are unreal and keep in mind he has not play in the 4th quarter of most games and even taken out after the first half in some.

^^^ This!! KId is awesome. I watched him play at Tullahoma earlier this year. He should have an impressive offer list next year.

hard for him to do anything significant with 8 in the box all game long against smyrna

Yeah, guys like him are used to 200+ypg. But 80-100yds is a real good game against someone like Smyrna or Maryville. He'll have to work like that EVERY game at the next level. I'tavius is a beast.

Last night, Itavius had 123 yards on 22 carries and 1 touchdown in a hard fought contest won by Smyrna. For the year, Itavius ended up with:
2,614 yards rushing on 239 carries and 29 rushing touchdowns. Avg. 10.94/rush
13 receptions for approx. 110 yards.
Returned 5 kicks for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns. Avg 59.8/return
Was 1 for 1 passing for 3 yards on 2pt conversion attempt
Returned 6 punts for 55 yards. (9.2 avg)
Total all purpose yardage total for season - 3,081 yards

I'tavius was having a hard time getting through that Smyrna line last night. Every time he got the ball, a purple shirt was waiting for him. I heard a rumor that the Smyrna players studied film after film on I'tavius for hours and hours, studying his steps, his movements, and his tendencies. He only had 12 rushes for 49 yards in the first half.

Not sure what game you were at. Most of his yards were between the tackles. Smyrna's great speed on defense made it hard to bounce things out. I think 123 yards on 22 carries against a great Smyrna defense is pretty good. He ran where the holes were when there were holes. Trust me, the kid will run wherever he needs to run and he did.
