tennessee just recently offered...

offer list:
clemson, creighton, drake, iowa, marquett, nebraska, new mexico, tennessee, wichita state, xavier

interest picking up from:
Uconn, indiana, iowa state, kansas, memphis, north carolina, texas, USC

per espn:*this is from june, he has since grown 2 inches and added weight so may project as C now. also, his offensive game supposely has progressed alot.

Strengths:
Akoy is raw offensively. He scores mostly on putbacks, dump offs and tip ins inside. He is much more of a power forward right now and probably projects to that position down the road. He has a decent touch and hit a couple of shots from 19 feet. Akoy is a good rebounder. He has solid length and showed nice effort inside. His length allows him to be a solid shotblocker on defense.

Weaknesses:
He can hit some face up jump shots but that is not his strength. He can score in the low block but currently must turn and face in order to score in the paint. He has to continue to develop but he has a chance to be a good D-I prospect down the road.

Bottom Line:
Agau, a native of Sudan, is a long, developing forward prospect with a very high ceiling. He's still raw and inexperienced, but shows flashes of becoming a dominant force in time, particularly on the defensive end.

hahaha its all good, i completely understand what youre saying.

this is a guy though whos upside is huge, and probably with a good aau season will be a 4* before long. i mean just look at the schools starting to show interest, and he says uconn is actually really starting to recruit him hard.

would be a great pickup at a position of need for us.

If he's 13 feet tall and can get up and down the floor, we need to get him.

So how about Agau?

Seems like he'd be a good pickup for the 2013 class, solid post player and shot blocking presence.

I am for anyone that is a legit 6'10" or bigger and can play a little. If stokes goes next year UT's only post player will be Yemi and he is sized better to guard a 4 than a 5.

This guy is already C size, but another inch or 2 would be great. He seems kind of like a poor man Moses Kingsley, he's just starting to scratch the surface of his potential though.

The fact unc and Uconn are starting to show interest is a telling sign.

I say if there is potential to coach up a big man like that, you take it all day. Especially if he can step back and hit that 19 footer. No way you even shoot that if your not at least a bit confident and maymon would of been an all american this year if he had a percentage of that confidence. Plus, his strength is on defense? Yes. Pretty sure martin has shown in his short time in the orange tie that he'll take a good defensive kid when he's confident he can work on his offensive game. I love it!

unc very but uconn not so much. They'd probably grab anyone right now, especially a diamond in the rough type where they can afford to get a year in the system to make an impact since next year won't matter much. I wonder how persistant some of the other storied / big name programs have been?

I feel the same. I really like this recruit. Seems like hell be a good shot blocker, rebounder and defender, and his offense is actually starting to come along nicely.

This is a guy that it sounds like with a good aau season and a good senior season hell be a hot commodity. Obviously the potential is there and the ceiling is high, becuse he isn't rated that high but when you see his offer list and the schools now showing interest you can see the level of interest he's receiving.

This may honestly be our best C option outside of kinglsey, and our chances with kinglsey appear to be about zero. Would love to add this kid, go get em' CCM.

Disagree about Uconn, this one year ban won't hurt them recruiting wise imo. This guys 2013 so his freshman season they'll be eligible again. Uconn has produced some great big men and shot blockers over the years so I definitely see the interest. Even with this ban, Uconn is a top 10 BB program with Calhoun there. That's kind of like USC, how much did those bans really hurt them?

I will add, he has said Uconn is his dream school, so if they offer it'll probably be hard to beat them out. Also, many Nebraska fans feel he's theirs because his good friend and former teammate just committed to Nebraska. He just took an OV to Nebraska and many thought he'd commit on his visit, but he didn't. My guess is, he is holding out to see what other offers he gets, which is probably pretty smart on his part. He can do much better than Nebraska.

Calhoun is the question. He has had some health problems and if UCONN doesn't win some kind of appeal on the post-season ban he may go ahead and retire.

This. Calhoun has less than three more years left in him IMO. Even under the best circumstances.

They lost their final appeal I thought already, within about the last week.

I lived in Connecticut and still have family living in CT, and attending UCONN, plus a cousin who is a walk on, so I get pretty good info, abd vibe from them still about the UCONN program.

The consensus is Calhoun is jut to fiery to go out how they finished last year, and to leave the program is somewhat of a bad spot. Most think hell do about 2-3 more years and then hand the reins over to the "coach in waiting" Kevin Ollie.

Then again he could announce his retirment tomorrow but from everything I've heard that's not likely.

Probably about right.

IMO he sticks it out through the penalties, gets them back in good shape, and hands the reigns over to Ollie. Probably 2-4 years at most.
