TENNESSEE OFFERED TONIGHT

Scouting Report:

Strengths:
A super skilled, young guard, Rathan-Mayes has a great shooting stroke from behind the arc as well as off the dribble and a good understanding of how to create space in the mid-range area. He's still growing into his body, and so isn't yet explosive, but nonetheless is still proficient at creating his own shot.

Weaknesses:
He must improve his overall decision making and feel for the game as he has a tendency to monopolize the ball and hunt shots. He doesn't make anyone around him better at the moment and doesn't yet understand how to run a team from the point guard position.

Bottom Line:
Improved discipline and consistent effort on both ends of the ball would also help this youngster to maximize his tremendous potential.

6'4" PG? I think CCM is shooting for the tallest line-up in the SEC.

He's a 2. I think the reference to PG, was basically just talking more about his ability to create for others from that 2 spot, like a PG would. Could also be referring to rounding out his game so he could be a combo guard and play both positions.

But as of now, he's definitely a 2.

I was working off the last line of the weaknesses where it talks about not yet knowing how to run a team. Either way, he sounds solid.

Yea that's what I figured you were going off of. I think it's in reference just to him improving his gane that'd be an area is getting guys involved.

I'm actually talking with him right now and he tells me definitely a 2 guard, but looks to get his teammates involved.

Few notes from talking with Xavier...

Coach webster called last night "we had a great conversation" and thats when he offered.

Doesn't know much about Tennessee, but good first impression from staff and feels very wanted. He's looking up the school and trying to learn about the school.

Says he'd really like to come down for a visit at some point as well.

Says no schools currently stand out, and that he's wide open and every school is even. Great news as far as tennessees chances go.

If any vol fans wanna follow him and show him some support from VN on twitter I know he'd appreciate it... @YungBoiMayes

Okay, I have to ask. How do you talk to these kids? You actually talking to them or you talking about social media.

Really? Does recruiting have something to do with your job function/field of study?

No more of a hobby/side gig ive taken up pretty recently. Right now its just something i enjoy and do on the side, if i end up getting paid one day for it great, but if not its fine.

I stay small, just contact and talk with tennessee prospects, thats all im really interested in anyways. Im working on putting a site together so itll be easier for you all to catch up on tennessee recruits. Theres nobody imo that does a good job at it, but its a work in progress so it may be a bit. Post my interviews and things like that for anyone interested to read.

But yea, i do talk with these kids, and have talked with dmontre and armani as well as landry.

Sounds like a lot of work. Good luck. I'm sure I'm not alone on VN looking forward to seeing what you put together.

Thanks.

It's not that bad really, and it's something I really enjoy doing, so I don't mind spending the amount of time necessary.

That's pretty awesome that you're making a website out of it. That really would be useful to those of us who like avoiding some of the negative stuff on the site (thought not in the basketball forum lately which is great).

Just make sure you offer us free memberships before you start charging everyone else.

Same for you Chris, are you in Knoxville or somewhere else?

We can all meet for lunch or something and I'll show you everything and where I'm at, and see what you guys think about moving forward.

I'm in Knoxville. Looks like ZJC is in Friendsville, which is just west of Maryville.
