Hope he does not leave us out because of a sports writer. Should not choose your future based on a reporters words. Now a hot girl in Cali..... Hard to fault a man
I may have misused my wordage on the post, Hubbs said Morris was texting & calling the staff during the Army All-American week wanting them to show interest. I took that as him wanting an offer. PFort reiterated the same thing again today when asked about Morris on VQ. So I should apology for saying he was begging for an offer as it was my comprehension of Hubbs post that made me post that.
Secondly, no way no how would that cost Tennessee getting a recruit. If a kid is wanting to come to Tennessee it won't be b/c of someone said or did not say on a message board, whether it's media or a random poster like me. A kid will choose a school on multiple reasons.
If this was the reason for him not picking us then that's the Dumbest thing I've heard. Ever. I don't think that's the reason he wouldn't pick us though. Just seems like Dooley dropped the ball again. I agree on your second paragraph.
Hubbs might want to keep an eye on pissing off recruits saying stuff like they were begging for offers. The football office gives access and the football office can take away access.
What's said is said and the only real takeaway ought to be that recruits and their friends and families do sometimes read these forums even if they don't post.
So watch what you say, be classy and respectful, and remember they're 18 year old (mostly) unpaid athletes.
Hubbs has a Volnation account? Wow, who knew?
I don't believe in trashing kids or anything else, but Hubbs was reporting actions and not something that defames a kid. Unfortunately, they will be subjected to a lot once they get to campus. Part of the gig.
UCLA commitment Christian Morris feels wanted by Tennessee. That wasn't always the case.
"I will say this coaching staff, in my opinion, they're recruiting me much harder than the last coaching staff," the offensive tackle from Memphis (Tenn.) East said. "They really are making me a priority right now. It's a good relationship."
Former coach Derek Dooley was fired after three straight losing seasons and was replaced by former Cincinnati head coach Butch Jones.
Morris took his official visit to Tennessee on Jan. 11. He said meeting the players was the most impressive aspect of the trip.
"It was good," the 6-foot-6, 293-pound lineman said. "I enjoyed myself I've been there before so I'm kind of used to everything."
Tennessee still has some work to do to pull Morris away from UCLA, where he committed in July. He said the Volunteers have yet to cause him to strongly question his commitment to the Bruins.
"Very high," he said when asked to describe his commitment level to UCLA.
Morris has long said he wanted to play football on the West Coast, but he also took official an official visit to Nebraska. Morris was scheduled to take an official visit to Washington last weekend but didn't take the trip.
The Volunteers will get another shot to impress Morris this weekend when he visits Knoxville on an unofficial visit. He'll be alongside his teammate, center Bobby Billingsley, who is also considering Tennessee more than he was before the Vols' coaching change.
