Me either. I just read an article and still dont get it? Alabama also did this in 02. Something about Hawaii and probation teams

The Hawaii game was already scheduled before the sanctions,but NCAA allowed them to go ahead and play it since it was already scheduled before the sanctions...

Right, they were being proactive instead of reactive just in case sanctions like theirs came down.

Vols haven't played in Hawai'i since Aloha Stadium's first year I think in '76.

It'd definitely be a fun experience. I actually remember watching something about some of the Vol players trying to surf on that trip.

BTW, Alabama did the same thing when they were on probation.

The NCAA allows Hawaii to have an extra home game each season to help recoup travel expenses; their opponent then is allowed to have that be their 13th game as well.
