Vols did offer Funderburk under Dooley but I don't think that still stands. Yea they both have some nice offers.

Wharton is a slot WR and not sure both twins play D. This guy definitely deserved an offer.

Payne said Ohio State, Michigan, Maryland, Virginia, Florida State, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt are the schools showing him the most interest but he is talking to plenty of other schools.
“I’m going to Tennessee March 16,” Payne said. “It was going to be March 9, but I have the SATs that day.
“They say I’m just a straight-up baller,” Payne said. “I can play off (a receiver). I have good technique. I have good speed and nobody is going to run past me, and I’m pretty physical.”
“I’m looking at the coaching staff, the whole atmosphere, what kind of place it is outside of the campus,” Payne said. “I’m looking at academics, and what schools have a good program in what I want to major in.”

Payne added early time is “very, very important” in his decision.

Doesn't he have family ties to knoxville. Not saying he is a legacy but I thought he has ties to the area.

Yup.

Tennessee: "Coach Thigpen was recruiting me when he was at Auburn," Payne said. "I've talked to him about his move to Tennessee and I like it because I have family in Tennessee also. The Volunteers have a lot of good tradition and I think the new coaching staff is going to do some good things."

"I'm hoping to visit all the schools in the spring and summer. I'm going to Tennessee this weekend but I haven't scheduled any other visits yet. My dad and I are talking and we're going to figure out when the other junior days are and when they want me to come down."

Payne said he will probably cut his list down to five during or after the football season and make his decision on signing day.
