14' GA ATH Stanton Truitt

You start adding athletes like truitt, gaulden, Autry, McDowell , on top of who we have committed , watch out in 2 yrs. scary potential .

When I look at clips of Truitt, I think of Mose Phillips in the early 90s. Phillips was a QB in high school but definitely wasn't going to be one at Tennessee...Coach Majors had flexed his recruiting strategy a little and sometimes signed athletes who seemed to be running against players standing still. They signed him not really knowing where he would play...he ended up as a 210 lb fullback and when there were big victories in the early 90s including the pounding of the Gators under Coach Fulmer in Coach Majors last season, there was a big play by Phillips either receiving or rushing or returning...they didn't have a prevalent star system back then but that's why I love fast playing 3* kids and I'm glad Butch mixes it up!

This is good, but I would much rather us be v stacking up in the trenches.

well if the talent in the trenches sucks you gotta have a ton of speed to make up for it at other positions. looks like this class could give us that for sure.

Good article on twitter on Stanton and his thoughts on UT. Stud athlete. Here are some highlights from the article.....

The Tennessee Volunteers have targeted 2014 recruit Stanton Truitt, an athlete from Monroe, Georgia. Truitt stands 5’10″ and weighs 180 lbs. He runs a 4.32 40-yard dash and 10.5 in the 100m. If you are wondering how hard he works in the weight room he benches 315 lbs and squats 450 lbs.

Jonah: Before Butch Jones became Head Coach did you have any interest or contact with Tennessee?

Stanton: No contact. I have liked them for awhile, watching Eric Berry play growing up and I’ve play against his brothers a couple of times. Tennessee is a great place! Especially after I visited and got to see Neyland Stadium, the fan base is amazing. Everything is different and better than i thought it would be.

Anyone can clearly see Butch Jones and staff have aimed to do whatever it takes to get Truitt’s attention. Vol fans know all too well that Tennessee has missed out on some great players in the past due to the lack of attention and effort from former Head Coach Derek Dooley. That is one mistake coach Butch Jones will not make with Tennessee.

Jonah: What coaches have you spoken to so far?
Stanton: Yes, I have spoken to all of them actually. When I visited the first spring practice I had a good long talk with Coach Martinez, Coach Z, and Coach Thigpen. I also talked to Coach Jones for a while as well. So I pretty much have talked to all of them and have got a like for them all.
Jonah: Have you established a strong relationship with any of the Coaches at Tennessee?

Stanton: All of them, I know I talk to Coach Martinez and Coach Z on a daily basis. I talk to Coach Cody Kempt I believe he is a GA we talk a lot as well about everything. He is a really cool guy to talk to if I ever need anything or someone to talk to as well

Interesting. 4.32 40 kid, strong as hell, great athlete, lot of SEC offers, Stanford offer ...... no contact from UT til CBJ got here. Hhmmmm.

He has gotten no love from the home state schools either. Very odd

Agree it's odd that UGA and GT haven't offered. Could be something we don't know about. Fact that Florida, SCar, Stanford and , quite honestly, Butch, has offered offsets that to me.

I like how when asked if he had a strong relationship with any of the coaches he replied " ALL OF THEM"!

Why UGA would offer: Truitt has speed and quickness that you can't teach. He is one of the most elusive prospects in the state of Georgia, and is a threat to score every time he touches it. Truitt told UGASports on Wednesday morning that UGA running backs' coach Bryan McClendon has been in consistent contact.

Why UGA would not offer: Georgia took six prospects in the 2013 class that can play receiver, and two prospects in J.J. Green and Tramel Terry that do basically the same thing Truitt would be asked to do on offense and special teams. On defense, Georgia hasn't offered many cornerbacks below 5-foot-11, so it will be interested to see how things go in the near future between Truitt and UGA.

I think this says a lot, but not everything jmo. Q Watson was a sub 11 second 100m guy too, but this kid looks like a much better prospect imo and seems to be much stronger from what we've read.

Maybe a runner like Rainey... Fast with great change of direction
