'14 GA OL Orlando Brown (Signed with Oklahoma)

so youre saying dont redshirt him, instead just let him sit on the sidelines his freshman year and waste a year of eligibility. that we he can leave earlier. we did pick up some kids in the '13 class.

this kid looks like a great pickup, but he will have to get in shape to run this fast paced offense. redshirt him to get in shape would be best IMO. thats my opinion.

Virtually all incoming OL need to be redshirted. I would agree.... would think he's no different. Just glad as hell he's about to be a Vol.

Even with the guys we added in the 2013, he'll still have a chance to play. If he's good enough to play, you can't just not play him out of fear of him leaving early. If he's good enough to leave early than he' should be good enough to play as a freshman. This team doesn't have the depth yet to just sit guys on the bench that may be able to contribute.

not the type of leaving early i was talking about. i was talking about keeping him for 5 years instead of 4. reshirting is a way to build depth.

Not when you are trying to rebuild. We won't have the depth when these O-line men graduate (you can probably include Tiny if he leaves early) that we can afford to put guys on ice for a year if they are able to play in 2014.

His 247 ranking looks odd to me. It shows he has dropped about 300 spots in the overall rankings over the last 45-60 days. From being ranked about 300th to about 600th. All while having one of the most impressive offer lists of anyone who has been ranked.

Maybe they knew he was leaning toward the Vols.

according to the roster we should have 12 OL plus whoever we get in the 14 class

Have you even looked at who we will lose on the O-line when he gets on campus? He would definitely be in the mix as a freshman.

You sound like Fulmer... just passing out redshirts for no reason.

Look at top teams and outside of exceptional players, they redshirt first year lineman so they can spend the whole time lifting and conditioning to be able to handle sec d lineman. With Dooley and kitten and fulmer lack of recruiting had us starting too many frost on line. You will be a better team if your lineman who start have three plus years in already with others behind them providing depth.

At 6'8 and 340lbs, I think he will play as a FR. With the fast paced offense and us having 4-5 serviceable OT's for 2014, I think he will see the field. If we happen to land one of the 3-4 top Juco guys on the OL, maybe he could then redshirt. If not, I think he plays.

I know he played a lot but even Tiny didn't start as a Freshman and he ended up bumping Bullard, I think, back to the 6th man as a Sophomore.

Linemen are almost never ready as Freshmen.

I agree... in ideal cases, they should probably redshirt.

The ideal case is not what we will have next year. That is what I'm saying. The entire line will have to be rebuilt.

All of whom will be competing for 4-5 starting positions plus 3 spots as backups or guys that can fill in because of injuries.

I don't see any reason why it is outrageous to expect 1-2 freshmen to be in the mix of those 8 positions by the time Sept 2014 comes around.

are you not expecting any JUCOs? cause I am.

I just hate we are in this cycle we can't seem to get out of. Taking zero ol was just stupid year before last.

Oh, and Tennessee is not a top team right now.

Big difference.

We need 2-3 Juco O Lineman

2014 offensive line (not including 2014 class)
--------------
Crowder
Posey
Jackson
Kerbyson
Wiesman
Sanders
Kendrick
Pair (awful)

Tiny (doubtful)

Gilliam walk on
Simcox walk on
