'14 GA OL Orlando Brown (Signed with Oklahoma)

We won't need him to contribute till 2015 at the very earliest.

Are you sure about that Eric? We are losing all but what, one OL after this year? We are going to need some freshman to step up if for nothing else, depth don't you think?

I would say that is fair - Mjackson and Crowder seem to have progressed well and will be RS jr and senior

Kerby has gotten some good comments recently - he will be RS jr - posey will be rs jr - Pair will be a SR

Asanders will be a RS fresh - Dweisman and Bkendrick will too

we also will likely take at least 1 juco OL this year

i would say the odds of a true freshman starting in 2014 would be pretty low

my guess is Crowder, Mjackson, Kerbyson, juco, then some combo of Asanders/posey/pair/weisman/kendrick for that final spot and for the first 1 off the bench

Most of the develoment is a result of a lack strength. Sanders by all accounts is very strong already.

I still think the coaches realize that only one maybe two true freshman will be good enough to contribute and probably at the guard position. They will probably sign 2 maybe three JUCO oline that will probably be EEs to go along with what we have.

Yea I see your point. I didn't consider a Juco OL. And I guess its according to else we sign up.

siap. interesting stuff here:

Orlando Brown Jr. recruit scouting report: A work in progress - SBNation.com

the writer seems to think he has some tremendous upside but is a work in progress

Just read a little bit about the writer.

Bud Elliott is a skinny guy that appears as if he never played the game of football. However, Bud is an attorney according to his profile and has the position of National Recruiting Analyst & Editor for SBNation.com.

Point is I wouldn't put much stock in Bud's scouting ability or his expertise as to what he looks for in a D-1 college level offensive tackle. Brown's a beast. He will be a huge pick up, and make Vol fans proud he's wearing the orange for years to come.

The guy is right. Brown has to shed weight and work on his technique, especially his footwork in pass blocking. His potential is through the roof but he's really raw right now.

Same could be said about any high school O-lineman transitioning to college. Point is, I find the credibility of the guy critiquing an O-lineman going to a D-1 college. It's comical.

I hope CBJ is getting the idea across to this kid, that the NFL has a tendency to "go back to the well once they find water" as it were.

We will have 3-4 OL go into the league, and 2 will probably be early picks. If Tiny does indeed come out, there's no doubt in my mind he will go 1-5. NFL teams will be looking to come back to where there was such a bounty of lineman.

Think I'm making this up? Look at Wisconsin. Draftniks (over the past few yrs) have taken to OL coming from them for the same reason.
