What makes you say McDowell is better?
Harrell is a solid player. What I don't like about him is that we don't know what he will or will not grow into. Sometimes it works out great. Other times it fails miserably. I never feel good about "tweeners."
I would rather take McDowell than Harrell. But I've seen other, more "reputable" posters say they would rather have McDowell as well.
McDowell has almost the same frame. What do you mean you don't know what he will grow into? If they want him to play a certain position they won't just let the kid eat his way up to 250 or something lol. McDowell is just over 200 right now and 6'3. You could say the same for him at the Safety spot.
Isn't Harrell up in the 215-220 range now?
I would rather recruit a guy that will most likely stay at safety and then recruit guys like Mouhon, Bates, Bryant, and some others at LB and then take Elliot Berry as our guy to grow into a LB. I don't see why we should take two athletes like that.

Yeah he's 215 and ran in the high 4.4s at our camp. Prob faster than Mcdowell. There's probably less than 10lbs separating the two kids. Not a big deal. I like them Both.
Everyone seems to thing McDowell will be an LB. I like Harrell much better at LB. If McDowell stays at safety, then we aren't talking about the same position anyway and it's not either or. No way Harrell plays safety if he's a 220lb sophomore in HS.
Exact opposite actually. Butch has shown he's not going to wait around and be played by these kids. The days of hoping and praying a guy chooses UT at the last minute is over. Butch is in no position to let a spot go free.
We can hold out for a VERY few elite guys. We have about 30 instead of 25 so we can. However, we can't get to national signing day and have a class of 5 less than we can sign. I see what you are saying. If we got 4 star guys who are great prospects ready to go and it fills up the spots at that position then why hold out for a McDowell.
It is not a loser attitude. It is not being left holding the bag when you can get excellent prospects to go ahead and commit. No one is saying we turn him away for a 2 or 3 star prospect that is just okay.
I agree with the drama with this guy. He can't lose a spot however that he has not committed to. But, it could get filled. CBJ would fill it with excellent players. Unlike a CDD who would panic and just get a decent player to try and fill the space.
McDowell and Booth's recruitment has been the most bizarre I've seen all year so far. One week they're ready to commit, the next, they can't decide. In the end, I guess it's better because you don't want to commit to a school and then leave them high and dry for a different school.
If this guy hasn't committed by the end of the year he isn't worth risking missing out on one of the other guys. The way he is acting now is definitely not helping his case.
McDowell is going to be at Dawgnight this coming friday. Cortez is meeting with CMR and Coach Stricklin about playing both at Dawgnight. UGA is a longshot to get CM.
Here is the latest: Scout.com: McDowell Has Dual Sport Dreams
Currently being courted by both Mark Richt and Stricklin, as well as many others coaches across the nation, McDowell says playing either sport at an SEC school is a no-brainer.
Ill meet with Coach Stricklin on Friday to talk about baseball, he said. Both sports are in the SEC so you cant really get any better competition, and with baseball its one of the best conferences besides the ACC.
McDowell, 6-foot-2, 185-pounds, has spoken at length with schools like Auburn, Florida State and Tennessee, but said Georgia is a school hes had a lot of contact with recently.
Georgia is one of those schools Ive talked with a lot so Im really looking forward to Dawg Night, McDowell said. Its one of the best schools for baseball and football so Georgias got a lot going.
The way he is acting now? All he's doing is taking his time and weighing his options like he should. What did McDowell do to become a drama queen?
He's is saying one thing and doing another. I realize he is 17, but at some point he needs to learn to quit making plans before he knows he is actually going to go through with them.
