'14 GA S Cortez McDowell (UT Signee 2/5/14)

I know that if Randolph ends up playing pretty decently that he is looking to leave early as well. That's the rumor anyways.

Smh... Why does everyone think if a player has a decent junior season, that he will automatically declare for the draft early? Absurd thinking! And this is no disrespect to Randolph. Everyone just has this complex that all of our juniors will go pro early, if they have a decent season.

thank you. i know everybody thinks Tiny will def go early, and I do too. Although, there is a chance that he wont, because of how many OL were taken in the last draft. The next draft will be heavy on skill players.

I agree! The other thing to think about is there are some guys that come to a program with a purpose… Peyton Manning. You never know… Maybe Tiny came here with the purpose to put our once storied program back into the national spotlight. If we have a solid season, and he thinks that 2014 might be the year that big things happen on the Hill, then he may decide to come back and finish what he came to do.

That's nice and all, but you should go if you are considered a sure first rounder. That's just my opinion.

The one you just started?

Roommate on the football team has talked about it some. I'm not trying to start anything and I'm not saying he will or won't, but I believe his intentions would be to leave early if possible, regardless if he currently hasn't accomplished anything worth noting that.

I agree. It does hurt the team losing a great player, but getting players into the NFL is a huge benefactor on the recruiting front. Typically I don't mind when a player leaves early to the NFL too much.

Bingo. Producing first rounders is HUGE in the eyes of high school players.

Peyton was a sure first rounder, and I think it worked out pretty well for him coming back his senior year :)

I respect guys that are considered early first rounders that come back their senior year. I know there is always a chance for injury, but there is also a chance to be a part of something special your senior year that you might miss. I do think that Tiny is gone after this year, but it also wouldn't surprise me if he returned because he loves UT so much, and wants to be one of the guys that brings them back. I honestly would not be surprised if both Tiny and AJ came back, as they seem to both be from the same mold (they bleed orange).

I get you on the Manning example. Guys like that end of being the most beloved players for a program. My overall point is that there is no need to take that risk.

I think Tiny and AJ leave. I personally would if I had 1-3 round draft grade as junior. Just too much risk. These guys won't have another opportunity to live their dream and make that kind of $.

I haven't read anywhere that Randolph is expected to be a high draft grade. I haven't seen him on any short lists of best CFB safeties. I like him a lot, but he would need a blow out year to make leaving early worth it.

Which is why a top LT would go this year - premium position with lower supply than previous year = big time priority = big time pick

At his position I think he's a lock to go.

Your NFL career is not indefinite. You have until about age 30 to make your millions if you're lucky. At a position where his second contract could be ludicrous money it makes sense to get an extra year on that contract by leaving a year earlier.

It's an individual decision. Peyton's dad had a little money, some of these young men do not have that luxury. I just appreciate the time they are clad in orange and giving their all for Tennessee. Then I wish them the best in their NFL careers and/or life.

I don't blame them for leaving when they are projected as a 1st rounder. I remember Anthony Poindexter at UVA. He was a top 10 pick if he went pro after his junior year but came back because he loved the college experience. He blew out a knee game 7 of his senior year. Got drafted in the 7th round, never saw the field and was gone in 2 years. UVA took care of him though. Made him a graduate assistant and now been on the staff for 10 years. I was at a camp put on by Ronde and Tiki Barber, they both said he was the best safety they ever played with. Ronde was playing with John Lynch at the time.

Don't know Tiny's financial situation. But guys like Luck and Manning had Dad's who played in the pros and made their money in the league before their respective sons entered college. They had the luxury of playing another year without worrying about financial constraints.

Lynch was a beast.. Underrated IMO

Poindexter was a freaking baller. One of the best defensive players I have ever seen at the college level. He was a man among boys: a rare athlete with unreal football instincts. I thought he was a sure-fire perennial All-Pro type safety. His injury was heartbreaking, but like you said, UVa has taken care of him.

I personally know Randolph and I can tell you he will not leave early... He will get his degree just like his brother that just graduated from UT. Trust me on this
