'14 IL LB Clifton Garrett

Talked this afternoon to a buddy of mine who's regularly involved at Plainfield South (and other high schools in the western suburbs about Clifton Garrett). My buddy confirmed this guy can play. "He's a stud -- a game changer. And a great quality guy too. Very humble " However, what my buddy said next was a big disappointment. "I'd be surprised if he'll qualify academically. If he does, it'll be very lucky"

Bump....Nobody bit last time...he gonna try again

garrett could be a vol by nsd. got a good feeling here, lsu may win but i like being dark horse. i think getting hendrix may set a precedence here. not that the two are connected.

You're right, I've said it here before, but I'm not trolling. The guy may get in somewhere, but it's not going to be a slam dunk. More likely he goes the JUCO route, imo. I'll take him as a Vol in two years. Does anyone have any information to contradict me? Was my connection to the western suburb high schools inaccurate by telling me Garrett struggles with his grades and would be lucky (he didn't say he won't. I'll give you that) to get in?

Do you have any idea how many high schools are in the western suburbs? Highly doubt anyone is connected in that kinda way. If you say you know someone in his high school, yeah maybe we could buy it.

Yeah, there're are tons of high schools. What's your point? My buddy is connected to most of them....not all of them. He doesn't work with Glenwood (Daniel Helm's current HS), but he worked for Daniel's previous one and has told me even as a freshman, you could tell Helm was going to be special. Listen, I hope Garrett becomes a Vol. He's an incredible player. All I'm saying is if he commits, let's temper our expectations until he's passed the clearinghouse. Neither LSU, Ole Miss, or UT will be out of the woods until then.

Lets not be that fanbase that starts this rumor. If it is true, everyone will know in a couple months if offers start disappearing. There is absolutely no upside to spreading a rumor like this, and only a negative downside if its not true. Mods should delete some of these posts.

Amazing that he once worked at a school of a current Tennessee commit who played in Kane county and then later has information on another recruit who currently plays in Will county. All in an area that has over 3 million people, half the population of the state of Tennessee. If I were a creep, I'd offer to ask Helm about your connected buddy since I live 10 minutes from Chatham.

I've been on record on here many times saying I personally feel that we land him. I've had a gut feeling for a while now that we get him. Based upon the factors he's mentioned really matches up well for us. If we keep fighting and finish the season strong and keep recruiting him hard. I really believe we steak him from LSU, CBJ is his main recruiter plus he and his family love thig, and he built a good relationship with curt and AJ.

Recruits like this is why the "3 commitments left!!!" threads are silly. Getting a player like Garrett supercedes most everything else, within reason.

My Dad was an AD at a high school in Louisville years ago - Louisville has a lot of high schools and a lot of athletes, but not a lot at a clifton garrett level - he could easily find out information like that on a kid of that caliber athletically with the AD's and coaches he still knows

i am not saying this particular poster has that source, but the fact that those sources exist in large school districts/counties is not implausible imo

My personal (although limited) experience with high school AD's in Illinois is they keep that info close to their chest to keep the IHSA out of their business and to protect their best assets (which in turn protects their jobs). You may be right though.

I'd think the supposed source would be more likely to come from a loose lipped academic counselor or teacher.

True that. If we can get him in, he's a take regardless of how many spots we've got available.
