Talked this afternoon to a buddy of mine who's regularly involved at Plainfield South (and other high schools in the western suburbs about Clifton Garrett). My buddy confirmed this guy can play. "He's a stud -- a game changer. And a great quality guy too. Very humble " However, what my buddy said next was a big disappointment. "I'd be surprised if he'll qualify academically. If he does, it'll be very lucky"
Bump....Nobody bit last time...he gonna try again
You're right, I've said it here before, but I'm not trolling. The guy may get in somewhere, but it's not going to be a slam dunk. More likely he goes the JUCO route, imo. I'll take him as a Vol in two years. Does anyone have any information to contradict me? Was my connection to the western suburb high schools inaccurate by telling me Garrett struggles with his grades and would be lucky (he didn't say he won't. I'll give you that) to get in?
Yeah, there're are tons of high schools. What's your point? My buddy is connected to most of them....not all of them. He doesn't work with Glenwood (Daniel Helm's current HS), but he worked for Daniel's previous one and has told me even as a freshman, you could tell Helm was going to be special. Listen, I hope Garrett becomes a Vol. He's an incredible player. All I'm saying is if he commits, let's temper our expectations until he's passed the clearinghouse. Neither LSU, Ole Miss, or UT will be out of the woods until then.
Do you have any idea how many high schools are in the western suburbs? Highly doubt anyone is connected in that kinda way. If you say you know someone in his high school, yeah maybe we could buy it.
My Dad was an AD at a high school in Louisville years ago - Louisville has a lot of high schools and a lot of athletes, but not a lot at a clifton garrett level - he could easily find out information like that on a kid of that caliber athletically with the AD's and coaches he still knows
i am not saying this particular poster has that source, but the fact that those sources exist in large school districts/counties is not implausible imo
