'14 IL LB Clifton Garrett

My personal (although limited) experience with high school AD's in Illinois is they keep that info close to their chest to keep the IHSA out of their business and to protect their best assets (which in turn protects their jobs). You may be right though.

I'd think the supposed source would be more likely to come from a loose lipped academic counselor or teacher.

I didn't mean that the AD would necessarily be the source - just that they would have "heard" through the grapevine type of thing

now some people knowing his status and this particular poster knowing his status - 2 very different things

hopefully the kid gets in fine - assuming he commits to UT of course

Yeah, I gotcha. Won't fight ya on that. I'm done with the qualifying convo. If he goes to JUCO, I'll come here and eat some crow, preferably medium rare.

Why would it be necessary to eat crow one way the other? Garrett could be tearing it up in the classroom this semester and next. Can't we both be right? Let's all hope that if indeed school was a struggle for him in the past, that he has the help around him now to steer him on a path that will get him on the field in Neyland next fall.

Edit: Heck, even if he doesn't choose Tennessee, I'm still pulling for him to succeed in the classroom. He's a humble, good character guy. Can't help but wish him the best.

Then why make the above statement with such certainty? You made a statement with supposed sources, I disagreed. I'm willing to eat crow if you end up being right. You should be willing to do the same.

I can certainly agree on your point that is in bold.

You're right. I should backpedal a bit. I guess I was caught up in the "VOL lock, LSU lock" finality of the thread. My source indeed said he'd be lucky to qualify. That doesn't mean he can't turn things around his senior year.

Amazing that he once worked at a school of a current Tennessee commit who played in Kane county and then later has information on another recruit who currently plays in Will county. All in an area that has over 3 million people, half the population of the state of Tennessee. If I were a creep, I'd offer to ask Helm about your connected buddy since I live 10 minutes from Chatham.

Always great to find fellow Illinoisans on the board!

Anyways, hope to hell Garrett is a Vol. He's a stud.

It's cool. I get caught up in stuff here daily!

Word. I may be from Illinois and live here now, but the 4 years I spent in Tennessee were some of the best in my life and I'd love to move back!

I hate to completely derail the thread, but I can understand that. Not the most fiscally responsible or morally adept people run our state.

Garrett has been retweeting tons of VOL tweets coming his way. I think its a sign and I think he's ALL VOL! He hasn't really had any interactions or RT's with any other schools

@VOLSJeremy 1h

@CG340 Clifton Garrett would be the icing on the cake for Tennessee's 2014 recruiting class. With CG3 the Vols have a top 3 class.#VolNation
