'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

I would carry this spot to give to a 2015 recruit. We will have a smaller class and have to be more selective. Fortunately as it stands now, the quality on our 2015 board surpasses this year.

You serious Clark?

Yes. After graduating 6 from our DL 2 deep this year, getting a couple JUCO DL who could contribute immediately was a top priority. After this year our young talent will turn into a really good line IMO, but for this season they're going to be really young and thin.

I do not wish him injury or harm but do hope he is a bust. He is not a VOL and handled this very poorly. If a bust, then this will be an even better recruiting day for us he went to the barn. Let's go get some more VOLS.

On the contrary, if we trust our staff's evaluation of talent the way we claim we do, then I fully expect him to be all that and more.

Now, he likely won't have the full opportunities he would at UT so that could hurt his chances.

I will say that, so far, kids that lie about their commitments and flip to or from UT at the last minute have been inordinately underwhelming.

* Janzen Jackson

* Bryce Brown

* Markeith Ambles

* Da'Rick Rogers

Can anyone think of a kid that was committed somewhere else and flipped to UT at the last minute while lying to coaches or vice-versa and succeeded?

Well Brown and Rogers are in the league so that's moderately successful at least. May not be high draft picks but they're getting paid to do what they love.

Gabe Wright was a fiasco as I remember it.

Lambert hasn't played a down and we still have Williams.

Alan Cockrell was pretty successful here. Ambles never signed with us.

This is why winning early IS important to a new HC. Lambert is signing with a brand new HC who just happens to be heading to the NC game... and not one that went 5-7 with 4 blowout losses and a loss to Vandy.

I hope to be wrong but IMO it was much bigger than many thought for Jones to make a stronger recovery with last year's class. It was not fair to expect it. But he needed to sign some studs who could really make a difference in '14 and '15. Absent that, he needed some stud JUCO's in this class. He's getting some but Lambert was a VERY big deal in that regard at a position of HUGE need.

Recruits will go with winners. The staff needs to prove it can win big games without an ideal roster starting next fall or this kind of disappointment will become much more commonplace.

Dobbs was a NSD flip to us.

Did he lie to the Arizona state staff for that time he was considering us???

If he did i want no part of that kid leading my football team!

I am going to assume he didn't handle his recruitment the same as here
