'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

Our young DL is really going to have to step up. This might end up costing us a win or two.

lambert might of ended up costing tn a few wins. everybody was banking on him coming in and starting. he might of been a stud in JUCO but just about every other player is a stud in the SEC. McCullers was a stud in JUCO and he did nothing once he got here. I cant help but to think this was a blessing

@ButcherAndrew1: Note to all recruits don't commit unless you are actually committed to that program.

Boom!

hard for me to think any single defensive player is worth 2 wins for our team

a QB is only position I would give that total to

From the standpoint of need, I am ambivalent about his lying and going with the Barn. He would have been potentially good, but nobody knows if he would have panned out or not. For him to have value for our roster he would have to be big time SEC quality from the first game. If he wasn't going to be a difference maker toward the W/L record, I really didn't want a juco.

In the cases of Blair and Pearson, it is obvious they are difference makers in games. Williams will be active on the inside at DT and be in the rotation. But I guess I viewed Lambert the same as Williams, a contributor that at some point may have even been moved inside. if Weatherd makes it to the finish line that will help the LBs as well as pressuring the QB on the blitz. However, I would much rather have 4 year guys that develop in the system. It's not like we are expected to win more than 6 or 7 games next season anyway.

So in summary and in the spirit of RR, eff the Barn. They can have the liar. No skin off our backs.

I just got off the phone with someone that just spoke with the staff (coaches). Id say that it's probably true. They're all very pissed off too. They were lied to badly!

If so, then he most likely got his grades late last week if his JUCO schedule is the same as around here. I wonder if that threw a monkey wrench in coming to UT. I also wonder if he can EE at all. If that's the case, then does his LOI from today still stand?

I'm all kinds of confused.

This is why winning early IS important to a new HC. Lambert is signing with a brand new HC who just happens to be heading to the NC game... and not one that went 5-7 with 4 blowout losses and a loss to Vandy.

I hope to be wrong but IMO it was much bigger than many thought for Jones to make a stronger recovery with last year's class. It was not fair to expect it. But he needed to sign some studs who could really make a difference in '14 and '15. Absent that, he needed some stud JUCO's in this class. He's getting some but Lambert was a VERY big deal in that regard at a position of HUGE need.

Recruits will go with winners. The staff needs to prove it can win big games without an ideal roster starting next fall or this kind of disappointment will become much more commonplace.

Yes, there is a lot of truth to this. Butch underperformed on the field this year and it may have had consequences in this case. Nevertheless, Lambert is still a lying $ack of $--t !!!

Where was this garbage when Dooley was in charge? You were his premier apologist.

It's garbage? Why because you don't like the truth?

I have explained before but will again.... just because it is you.

I was wrong.

I still absolutely support giving a coach 3 years barring something extraordinary to prove themselves. I no longer believe that coaches should be above criticism or that public criticism of public failures is something to avoid. I'll be respectful of the coaches... but if they don't get it done I'm not going to keep quiet.

I had a lot of reservations and criticisms I didn't voice of Dooley. I said repeatedly that if he didn't prove something by year three he had to go... because recruiting would suffer. He would be labeled a loser rightly or wrongly AND would be on a hot seat.

Same goes for Jones. If he doesn't win regardless of whether anyone thinks it is "fair" to expect him to... he has to go because he won't be able to sustain the level of recruiting needed to win. It may well be unfortunate but it is the new reality in the modern media age.

I think he mistyped. I read it that way as well, but when you read the rest it goes against saying he would win us games. Saying a juco DL is the difference between winning and losing games in the sec is a stretch that Stretch Armstrong wouldn't be comfy with.

Well, there's one silver lining to this story.

He won't be going in January. He's not eligible! He made 2 D's and an F!

Now, I am confused. Why is he signing a LOI today, if he is not an EE in January? I thought those JUCOs had to wait until Febuary?

So his grades prevented him from being an early enrollee and he went to Auburn because our offer was contingent on him being an early enrollee?

My guess is the NLI is voided if grades arent certified.

His recruitment might be back open if he can't take winter(Christmas) classes to graduate
