It's garbage? Why because you don't like the truth?
I have explained before but will again.... just because it is you.
I was wrong.
I still absolutely support giving a coach 3 years barring something extraordinary to prove themselves. I no longer believe that coaches should be above criticism or that public criticism of public failures is something to avoid. I'll be respectful of the coaches... but if they don't get it done I'm not going to keep quiet.
I had a lot of reservations and criticisms I didn't voice of Dooley. I said repeatedly that if he didn't prove something by year three he had to go... because recruiting would suffer. He would be labeled a loser rightly or wrongly AND would be on a hot seat.
Same goes for Jones. If he doesn't win regardless of whether anyone thinks it is "fair" to expect him to... he has to go because he won't be able to sustain the level of recruiting needed to win. It may well be unfortunate but it is the new reality in the modern media age.
Man this one really hurts. We needed this guy badly. But it is his life, his decision to make, and his future that is on the line. I can't be mad at someone who made a decision that they think will give them the best opportunity. And I don't care what anyone says, best of luck to the young man. Seems like a good kid.
I'm sure the staff has a good backup plan in place as they definitely knew this was a possibility.
A man is only as good as his word.

I wasn't trying to make the point that this was going to be the way of this particular class. I think you are actually agreeing with my point here. Dooley serves as the warning as does Fulmer.I still think a distinction should be made between this class and, say, the '12 class where we lost three probable instant contributors on JUCO signing day. There is plenty of DL talent signing with UT this year. Lambert would have been huge but given the overall shape this class is taking I don't think it's a portent of bad things to come unless, as you said, we don't show tangible improvement next year.
I apologize for getting on to you like that, though. Suffice it to say this news didn't make any of us happy.
