'14 JUCO LB Chris Weatherd (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Really? I could've sworn I recalled one of the Berry twins saying he'd make it to campus a month before the other.

Elliott's tweets:

@ST_2HTD so when yall report to camp and all that do u get any summer to ya self

@bubbashepherd I report may 26

@bubbashepherd Evan July 1

ThatDudeBubba77 ‏@bubbashepherd Apr 7

@ST_2HTD damn why you report so much earlier then Evan

@bubbashepherd that's the date he chosen

Isn't expected to make it in to the first summer session of classes per 24/7

This is not good. Heard recently that on average, if a JUCO doesn't EE and comes in normally in the early summer, that it's typically game 5-6 before that player contributes.... takes that much time to get up to speed and acclimate. So now, not only did he not EE, he's not even making it in for the entire summer? Not good. We need this kid on the field, but it appears he can't get his business handled in the classroom. I hate it cause he's a great kid who really wants to be here.

I don't think there are any statistics to back that up.

Say hello to Cordarrel Patterson. Im pretty sure I butchered his first name

Heard on Doug Matthews' show. He cited statistics, which he stated were widely accepted by coaches, including our staff. He said this is why he was skeptical that Weatherd would even be in the '14 class when he didn't EE. Being a former JUCO himself, Doug seems to me to try and be up to speed on all things JUCO. He's my only source on this so perhaps he's right, perhaps he's wrong. Just relaying what I heard him say.

This means what? CP's an extraordinary physical talent and first rd pick. Not your typical football player, much less your typical JUCO transfer, no? Had he had to only rely on his WR route running skills coming out of JUCO he would've contributed very little to UT in 2012. Also, the comment was made in the context of "typically" and "statistically speaking", which means the statement was not an absolute for EVERY player.

As I said in an earlier post, I don't know if Doug was right or wrong. Just relaying what he said on the radio.

Up to the kid. This is usually true because the Jucos come in expecting to be handed starting job and think they can just show up. They don't realize how much work goes into it and what the rest of their competition is doing while they sit at home.

So we have to hope he is working his butt off to get in school and be in playing shape

Lol. Wannabe insider roasted again.

At the very least, it's looking less and less like Weatherd will be able to contribute too much this year. Hope he gets his affairs in order and at least is able to get some meaningful snaps in the 2nd half of the season.

Wannabe insider? How? He's been sounding the alarm about Weatherd and his grades for months.

I was referencing Madcap challenging your assertion that there wasn't anything statistical to back up your claim. He likes to come off as a know it all and ends up looking foolish more times than not. I think you are one of the better posters on here. Sorry for the confusion.

Doug Matthews has been calling this one before NSD and most of us, myself included, didn't want to believe it.
