'14 JUCO TX WR Kameel Jackson (UT walk-on)

I like it. Wonder how a 7 star factors into the Rivals rankings? Automatic #1 spot IMO.

But seriously, anyone know if OK uses their WRs similarly to how UT plans to use ours?

Oklahoma plays fast and uses an air raid passing game. We'll be playing fast and using a west coast passing game (air raid derived from west coast).

So it's very similiar in that aspect.

according to article I posted, Johnson already has qualified ...

this shows how bad the coaches think our WR situation is.

Wow, takes for this upcoming fall...

What do you make of this, Jay?

Not Jay but I choose to spin it this way. We just don't have a proven playmaker at WR right now and the guys we do have were injury prone in the spring. I don't think this is an alarming indictment of our receivers necessarily. This is fairly low risk and potentially very high reward. Seems like a pretty good move.

Fort:

Johnson is a take if he an get out in May or this summer. The staff feels like they need some depth with only six scholarship receivers. As for Jackson, he's a December graduate and so he's a 2014 guy.

So how many years does this kid have left to play? I mean hes gotta be like 24 years old now. lol

Thanks for that input. I'm all for bringing in a player who has some familiarity with the offensive style.

Johnson wouldn't count against this years class so it's not like he's eating up a spot for this year. Jackson is a stud, it's not like we're taking a 2 star no one's heard of. He was a highly rated recruit out of HS and produced when he got the chance at Oklahoma (who had no shortage of depth at WR).

he would count against this class. he fills one of the empty spots from the '13 class. therefore we only backcount to take 30 instead of 31

Yeah we definitely need someone who knows what's going on to report on this. We may get Johnson this year and Jackson next year. That's all I'm getting
